General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
Sorry, I am constantly surrounded by people that own Challengers, and by calling them "Challys," it's kinda like nicknameing a personal friend. no offense intended.

"Pardon me, I'd like to go for a ride in a Dodge Challenger " ! ' Ok, which one' ? "Oh, which ever one you want" ! 'Ok let's go for a spin in this Chally' ! " Yeah, Ok ..yeah ,I like this Chally " ! !
Until this website, Ive never heard anyone call a Challenger a "Chally". Must be the location.
If anyone called my 70, or 71 RT a Chally(no longer owned, do to education requirements), I would correct them on the spot.
Again, must be the location...

hmmmmm..........maybe I should change my user to "71 super bee" so that I do not offend anyone on this board. I mean, how disrespectful could one hard core MOPAR nut get???????
I had two Challengers in the mid 70's and they were commonly referred to as "Chally". No biggie from my point of view, a term of affection more than anything.

I don't know if everyone has seen the October 2006 post by allpar.com. For some it may be old news, but I think that it bears repeating for those who have not seen it. It said the following:
"Chrysler announced that the Dodge Challenger will be produced as a coupe, to arrive in dealerships in 2008 (as a 2008 model year car), and to be built on the same line as the 300, Charger, and Magnum. Chrysler assures us that the production car will be practically indistinguishable from the concept. We have been told to expect a price of about $31,000.
There are reportedly many Challengers currently out there, so production may (speculation!) actually start around February 2008, even though officially the date remains around April...According to sources, Chrysler is trying to decide on which strategy to follow: a high-price, low-volume run, or a high-volume, lower-price run. Also in flux is the question of engines - restricting to just the Hemi, or allowing both the Hemi and at least one V6. Chrysler announced a manual transmission will be available along with an automatic, each having five speeds; an SRT-8 version will have the 6.1 Hemi while the stock Challenger will have the 5.7 Hemi (no, they will not have the new crate Hemi, nor did we expect them to). At this point we believe there will be a first-year run of about 50,000 Hemi equipped Challengers, possibly with automatics, followed by a smaller run of Hemi Challenger SRT-8 cars with manual transmissions. Rumors are flying about a 6.6 liter Hemi, but we believe that is speculation at this point.
One possibility was just sent to us: the Challenger start out in SRT-8 form for model-year 2008, with both a manual and automatic, built on the LC (shortened LX) platform. Following that will come the standard Challengers."
Yeah -- I just read that last night too !! The first part of that page was new[ er ] info..i.e. ' built on an " LC " platform'... shorted LX..from LY platform... [ hope I have these platforms in proper sequence.. I'm starting to get again !!! ..Yeah..hope this LC platform ..to really give the Challenger more structural rigidity //suspension savviness too : just like the 70's models..They were great for this ... so a person who wants to; can really do some donuts in fluffy foot deep snow..whheee
