SRT Engineering Chat Session - Discussion Thread

I'm creating a thread to discuss what was talked about on the SRT Engineering Chat Session thread. If you haven't read it yet, do so here:

SRT Engineers Chat Session - 6/11/08 6pm - 8pm EST

One thing I thought was curious was their answer to make Track Pak question on Page 6

I can't tell if they're just hassling me for misspelling Track Pak as "Trak Pak" and the answer is in jest or if they really mean there's no such option as Track Pak

Even if there is no supposed "Track Pak" I'm sure it's just under a different name or considered "Standard" with the 6-speed.

Interesting to hear that the 6-speed will have a higher top-end speed and +1MPG mileage. Additionally, they say the 6-speed will have a cheaper Gas Guzzler Tax! Good news!

The increase in mileage and top speep i both expected. I wasnt sure if it was enough to reduce the gas guzzler though. That is great news. I was glad to hear them say that

Re: SRT Engineering Chat Session - Discussion Thread

I thought it was a drag limited top speed?

They might not consider it a "Track Pack upgrade" Since it is standard equipment on the SRT

That was their initial thoughts, but with the 6 speed it probably moves the power band to make for a higher top speed. Where as with the auto, you would be stuck due to lack of power in that particular gear. Thus the drag limited speed.

That was my thought. But maybe he meant the 08. Because the 08's dont get a LSD or any other part of the trak pak

Re: SRT Engineering Chat Session - Discussion Thread

looks like I missed alot but I couldnt get out of my appt tonight.
So the 6 speed will not be limited in speed as the 08 if I read right and also the GG tax may be lower as well, sounds good to me.
Also the 09 trak pak(snack-pack) lol.Makes the car a much different beast than the 08.
Is there anything else I missed please let me know asap guys.

So pricing may be a bit lower via GG tax?

Re: SRT Engineering Chat Session - Discussion Thread

Getting an aftermarket CAI/Headers/catback would drastically alter the exhaust note on any vehicle.

As for the Challenger, the SRT Team reported in the thread that the Challenger has a much different exhaust note even when compared to the similar platform Charger SRT8/300 SRT8. They said that it's as loud as they could make it while still being barely legal. Knowing that the 6-speed R/T and 6-speed SRT8 do not have a muffler, but instead two resonators, I am sure that the they're describing those cars when they mention the 'barely legal' exhaust note.

I'm excited to hear the 6-speeds unique exhaust system!

Re: SRT Engineering Chat Session - Discussion Thread

My Neon SRT4 had a resonator set up instead of mufflers. Man that thing was LOUD. The drone was horrible on the interstate, but when you stood on it, it sounded great for a ricer. I will say it sounded incredibly deep below 3K RPM for what it was.
