DC is usually faster to production than the other makes, but when the Charger came out to a luke warm reception, DC should have had the Challenger to market this year or next at the latest.
Only partially true. The platform will be a completely revised version of the LX platform, not just a shortened one. In other words, this platform (LY) has to be built yet before the Challenger can ever make it to production. People seem to forget this very key point all the time. And there were a few quality issues with the LX (300 in particular) cars when they were first rolled onto lots. I saw several 300's with improperly aligned hoods sitting on the dealer lots when they first came out. Something that should have been caught at the factory before ever getting shipped. It's the little things like that which go a long way toward a cars reputation. It's a minor problem, but something that should not happen.
The Charger only had a lukewarm reception by the diehard Mopar fans. I believe that it's actually selling rather well, and is a very nice family sedan. Not to mention one that can haul a@@. I see more and more Chargers in my area all of the time.
I do agree with you though about DCX being faster to production than other makes. After all, that was one of the big reasons why Daimler wanted to get in bed with Chrysler, and that was Chrysler's ability to take a car from prototype to production in a very short timeframe.

Selling my pristine 02 Corvette this summer to prepare for acquisition of a new Challenger. Informed the Gen. Mgr. of the highest volume Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge Dealer in California that I will be ready to order when he can take a deposit. ( My oldest son is a service manager there and my wife drives a Grand Cherokee from this dealership. ) I'm serious about this vehicle.
Still remember being 17 and seeing a black / black 1970 426 Challenger in the local Dodge Dealer's showroom. It sat for weeks just waiting for a buyer. Couldn't do much about the situation then, and my Dad had zero interest in buying it as a "family" vehicle. But today is a new day. Something to be said for setting priorities earlier in life when such a creation as the new Challenger enters the scene.
