Thumbs up They're gonna build it

I just heard from a good friend of mine that works for DC, that the build location of the new Challenger will be Newark Assembly in Delaware. He works in that plant, so he's got a pretty good inside line on info.

So it's definitely a go, but I still haven't heard any beginning production dates yet. If I do, I'll post them.

Re: They're gonna build it

More rumor. Instead of announcing "it's a go" just say "newest rumor". As the DCX VP said: "announcement near the end of the year". I'll believe it when it's official, not before...
BTW: exactly what position does your friend hold - how high up the food chain is he or she?

Re: They're gonna build it

I'm not gonna say this isn't true but it seems unlikely to me. The Durango and future Chrysler variant (the name escapes me at the moment) are built there and usually similar vehicles are built at the same plant. I do know that Chrysler has been trying to work on factory versatility (this certainly would be versatile) and I'm not necessarily in the know or anything but, I'm sorry I don't see it.

Re: They're gonna build it

Knowing this guy, I'd pretty much call this fact. I'd rather not say what he does (because I don't want him to get in trouble) but he's been there ~25 years, is DEFINITELY pretty high on the food chain, and has some great inside contacts. If he says he was told they are building it there, I believe him 100%.

The Chrysler variant of the Duragno they are building there is called the Aspen btw.

Re: They're gonna build it

From the Edmunds article every one is drooling over is the most interesting quote.

"Still looking into it." Page Ranking honcho Scott Brown said that the outstanding questions include whether to go high-price/low-volume or low-price/high-volume, what plant had capacity to build it, fundamentals like that.
When will we know...

ErikM3 -
Look, I'm not trying to start some flame war here, but you don't know me from Adam, so I don't really appreciate you calling me a liar. Did you even read my post? He is not my friends, uncles, pets, owners, sisters, father in law. This guy is a personal friend of mine of 5 years that lives directly across the street from me. He's a big Chrysler nut, and he knows that I am too. He would NOT make up something like this. Even though the DC honchos are still publicly saying "well, we're not really sure yet...", behind the scenes they are apparently already making plans. He was told by a DC honcho that the Challenger will be built in Newark. If you don't like reading cool, new, insider info about the progress of this product, even if it's "officially unofficial", and you would rather listen to and believe the blabbering corporate blow hards, then sorry, but your in the wrong place.
