Trying to Charge $20k over MSRP!

Hey fellas. Im brand new here, but ive been on Cherokee SRT8 for a while...
Anyway went to a local dealership and told them that i want a Challenger, Black, w/ manual. Also that i wanted to trade in my 07 GCSRT8 (paid for). They told me that they would give me $31k for the Jeep i paid $45k for 6 months ago... and the kicker : they want $61k+ for the Challenger. Am i missing something or is this total Horse$#!^!!?

Are there any dealers around that wont try and rip me a new one?

Thanks for the input.

Most Challengers are spoken for. So you may be limited to what's left and available as they come in.That seems high, I know a dealer who got $100,000 for their first Challenger. Automatic only for 2008.75 sorry to inform you, no man. until 2009. What seems fair to you?

Re: Trying to Charge $20k over MSRP!

I could see maybe $5k over MSRP.... but then also not trying to bend me over on my Jeep would be preffered.

So maybe i spoke up too late huh?

No, a lot of people may have placed an order but not put down a deposit. They may back out when the car gets there, or not be able to get financed. They all may shoot up in price as they start to hit the ground and the real frenzy starts. You never know. I've seen people pay $20,000 over for PT Cruisers when they came out. It sounds like you got a good deal on your Grand Cherokee SRT8, as I don't know details like what you traded in or anything else. But none the less. I think $31,000 is low for trade especially if they are going to whack you $20,000 over on the Challenger. You would easily get $3,000 to $4,000 more on the open market. That's about the average used car grosse anyways. So yah, cars depreciate. Keep shopping. Or buy one of mine, after I get it, I have 2 coming.

maybe a little late for an 08. I think most of the 08s went on december 3rd when order banks opened up. I called the friday before and had my order in. Dodge is trying to stop the dealer mark up by giving the dealers more 09s the faster they move their 08s. The manual won't be around till 09 , augst/ september this year. Getting a deal at MSRP shouldn't be that hard for one of the first 09s, and if you wait till early/mid 09 maybe even less. Just get it in writing and put a deposit down. I made sure I gave at least 5K towards mine. Keep us posted on the hunt!

Yea I was really hoping for the 6spd, but since it's gonna be my DD the autos gonna be just fine. I have my Shelby GT for a toy and soon it'll be in the 550HP range. I'm gonna have to buy another one anyway when/if the 392 comes out!
