Great tracker, I wish more models had something this slick instead of the crummy thread tracking.

I wanted to add a few that VINs and Plaques that I have found (but do not own, sadly ) For cars that we don't own, how should we fill in the "Ordered" date? It is a required field, so I cheated for VIN 290738 and put in 01/01/08.

For the "Name", I used "Wright Dodge-MrDolomite". Maybe it would make sense to add a Dealer checkbox or field to denote vehicles on the lots but not owned.

And lastly, because some day someone else is going to buy that car, is there or will there be a way to transfer the entry I made to the proper owner's userid so they can change the entry.

Hmm. Didn't really think about people volunteering cars they didn't own into the registry. I'll have to think on that.

As for ownership transfer, you could just use the "Contact the Admin" form and request it. I can manually transfer the car details.

K, thx. I've added a few more from ebay and dealers, just to test out more data on how the fields work.

A suggestion would be to add a status of "Spotted" or maybe "ForSale". Don't want to see this tracking registry turn into a Challenger selling grounds, so not sure how to balance that. I'll cool it with the additions till you figure out what's best for the site.

Oh, one last question, this time about the VON field. On a sticker, is says L4-VON: 1234, but when I try to enter that into the registry, it complains about it needing to be 4 digits. I didn't see any with four leading zeros or the L4, so my guess is that I'm not finding the whole number.

Small update for you guys. Today I decided to look into optimizing the query that controls the brunt of the results as non-cached queries had been taking obscene amounts of time (6+ seconds).

Long story short, I found out I made a pretty ridiculous design mistake with the structure of some of the tables. All queries should now be lightning quick when doing sorts.

I needs me a beer now
