120 SRTs! Geez, you must have a railroad track from the factory right to your back door. (They do travel by train, right? I believe they do out here in the great plains.)

Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger

Anyone here from California? I'm military and stationed here and I can't stand there tax laws on selling used vehicles, then paying sales tax on one EVERY time it is bought! It's highway robbery! I heard somewhere if I buy a new car out of state, I'd pay TTL in that state, then have to pay it again in CA. Is this true? Thanks

Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger

Here is what I ran into with a car I bought out of state in the past it may not apply in Cali.
I bought the car and paid the tax in my home state when I got the plates, not at the dealer.

I dont know how it is in Cali.

Good question..It may have changed here since but I doubt it I observed a lady in line in front of me that the dealer didnt charge her tax and she thought they did and had to pay at the DMC right there to get her plates. To pay taxs twice wouldnt be right Im sure your dealer could answer this for you I hope this helps but Im in Michigan not Cali.

The Way The Tax System Workes Is If You Buy In One State You Pay The Tax For That State . Then You Reg. In Another State That Is Higher Than Org. Tax You Pay The Diff. Not The Whole Thing / 1st--6percent ---2nd--2percent/ Never A Discount .

Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger

interesting.
In Canada if you buy something from another province you typically dont pay any tax on it at all. You are required to notify your home province's tax office and pay the applicable tax rate for your home province to them.

If you buy something out of province or even out of country and pay the tax for the remote location, we are still required to contact our tax office and pay the local tax. However, in most cases we can then apply to the first province to get a rebate once we can prove that our tax was paid here and in most cases (even with most if not all US states) we get our tax money back from them.

Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger

I actually just got back a couple days ago from a delivery to LA. I am in Cali quite a few times each year. Taxes are very simple, you pay the taxes where you live. Certain states are reciprocal, in which case when I sell a car to someone in that state I would collect the tax at the set amount. It all depends on where you buy from and where you live. There is a list online somewhere that will tell you which states you would have to pay taxes in and which ones you wouldnt. When registering your vehicle at the local DMV you would take in the tax form showing that you payed a set amount in a different state and if your local tax is higher you pay the difference then.

You do not ever pay local taxes from an out of state dealer unless they are in a reciprocal state and have the same tax amount.

Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger

Tax rate table please follow link below use the pull-down for your state or the state your buying from.
I'm in Michigan we are at 6.0 % Ohio where I'm buying is 6.55% so its going to be painless when I go to get my plates via the close proximity of both state taxes.

However every year my plates will be about 200.00 plus In Michigan they calculate your plates off the cost of the car at time of purchase. Now add no fault insurance and its not cheap to have toys in Michigan.

Ohio state taxes
