Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger
I hear yah money, its just wrong they are building what 500 only for all of you to fight over that isnt good business in any sense of the word.
It's plain foolish I do hope they change that but it seems the Canadian Dodge offices operate with out any influence from its American counterpart what so ever. Dodge begged them not to name it a 500 due to the chargers history and they just went ahead and did what they wanted with total disregaurd to the American office requests not to do this they really seem a bit too maverick for there own good. I do hope all works out man it sucks you cant get one here in the states, and just drive it home. Hey I more than understand your anger over this subject.

Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger
I have heard, in writing, from 5 different US dealers and over the phone from two others that Chrysler (US) has threatened severe penalties to any US dealer that sells a car to be registered in Canada. Go Figure.
I could buy one off ebay at those ridiculous prices and still get it cheaper than getting one in Canada! prices could be somewhere between 50-60msrp here. But nope, even the ebay dealers can't sell to canadians. Ya know, the waiting might not even be so bad if they'd just tell us how much its going to cost! Now someone else in a different thread hear that the Canadian cars might not hit the lots until Aug or Sept.... its snows here in Sept. SHlT!

Got any relatives in the States? It's a good way around that little rule! I don't know if you'd have to actually register that car to that person before they "sell" it to you. We used to do this with guitars for European sales. They pay and we send it to their relative here in the US.

Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger
Unfortunately after waiting and maybe being a little naive about when we'd find out about prices its now too late. For me, because I drive so little and I don't really need a car its an '08 or nothing and its way too late to be getting my aunt in LA to buy one for me and even if I did... No Warranty at all as soon as I register it at home.
Free Trade is nice in theory, but some of the manufacturers have found loopholes to effectively stop any type of cross border deals on some of their models.

Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger
...and just cause I am in a pissy mood (see post #31 in this thread) and maybe someone from Chrysler might read this and give their Canadian pricing a second thought.
It may be an apples to oranges comparison in terms of muscle and 70's retro styling but when comparing features, options and sheer ground ripping power..... it makes sense to compare them especially if the price is anywhere near similar. Here is what Motor Trend says about the 09CTS-V which might be available before the 08 Challenger and about the same price. == Here are the raw numbers: 550 horsepower at 6200 rpm. 550 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. They're only official "estimates," but as the engine under the new CTS-V's power-domed hood is fundamentally the same as the supercharged V-8 that's credited with 620-plus horsepower and at least 600 pound-feet in the hot new Corvette ZR1, you can safely assume the real SAE-certified figures will be close. "I'm confident we'll disappoint nobody with the numbers," says Ed Piatek, the CTS-V's program engineering manager. There are no performance figures yet, but by way of context, AMG's E63 Benz nails 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. The new CTS-V weighs about the same and has at least 43 more horses and 85 pound-feet more torque. Draw your own conclusions: The car also has been extensively tested on the legendary Nurburgring Nordschliefe, and while insiders are tight-lipped on the actual lap time -- for now -- they will admit Cadzilla has terrorized factory hotshoes from Munich out on the daunting 13-mile road course. "People who've never been passed by a Cadillac have now had that experience," smiles Piatek == I really love the looks of the Challenger...but those are some pretty impressive numbers for a similarly priced car. Hello, Chrysler... are you there? Hello???

Re: Want A No Hassle Deal On A 09 Challenger
Thats just down right wrong for Dodge Canada not to make sure all you guys who are die hards get these cars.
Can you buy on ebay USA or is that out of the question also I did see a few go for 46k thats not bad but I know nothing of what it would take to get a car from the USA to Canada. Hey if I hit the damn lottery which wont happen because I don't play more than 4 times a year.Hell Ill buy you your can and screw em all ..... Im serious on that offer if the mopar gods are listening. This isn't right they are freaking dream smashers and thats unconscionable to bait the public like that we are all pulling for you guys to get in on this. You know Dodge reads this forum and I hope they do something before we all have a bad taste in our mouths over this car and their poor emphsis on market demand for such a pinnicle car in a car guys life. Keep on keepin on .

Nope. I've contacted a number of people selling on Ebay and all have told me the same thing: If the car they sell (even if its on Ebay) gets registered in Canada then Chrysler-US will have some severe punishments for them.
If a dealer runs the risk of not being able to access prime vehicles in the future (I assume thats the sever punishment) then they're not going to take any chances by selling to someone out of county, and I dont blame them.
