General Challenger DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the Dodge Challenger. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
Inferno Red is one of the best colors Dodge has, for whatever reason Dodge refuses to offer an SRT8 in one (I know they did for 06, then dropped it like a hot potato). If I could get an SRT8 Challenger in Inferno Red I'd move heaven and earth to get that sum*****.
Granted , occasionally I will see the Inferno Red all nice and shiny,
but the majority of Inferno Red vehicles I see on the street look like a maroon color..
dull and boring..
I even checked the Dodge site to see if they were producing a maroon color on different vehicles,
but Inferno red was the only choice that was close..
Is it like black where you need to keep it spotless to have it look good.?
See, I've always thought of maroon (Inferno Red) as a rich, classy color. Sure bright red is nice... but it seems like such a "cliche" color (to me, anyway). It's still a head scratcher as to why Dodge refuses to offer IR on the SRT8 line anymore (except the 300 SRTs).
I had an Inferno Red 07 Charger and I now have a Dark Titanium 08 300. I think the change in all Pearl Coat paints in the sunlight and in the shade is what you are noticing. Pearl Coat paints look fabulous in the bright sunlight, but look completely different in the shade or on a cloudy day. I really liked the colour on my Charger and my 300 when they are clean on a bright day, but on a cloudy overcast day, they both looked terrible. Especially the Dark Titanium, it seems to change from a nice deep Charcoal Gray in the sun, to a crappy Brownish Gold colour on a bad day. I said I would never get another Black car, but the more I look at other colours, I am beginning to think there might be a Black car in my future.
P.S. I just ordered a Deep Water Blue 09 Jeep Liberty, so I am hoping this colour changes my mind.
Get the black Challenger. I was torn between the decision while I was ordering my Challenger of Red or Black, or possibly Titanium. After looking at all three colors on a 09 Charger, I was sold. The Pearl Black did it for me, with the metallic silver and gold flake in the paint, that you can only see at certain angles. The Challenger looks damn mean, and it deserves a paint that adds to it. That being said, DWB is a girly color, imo.
