What do you think the Challenger will cost us now?

Hopefully no more than $30k for a nicely equipped R/T.

Any thoughts guys?

I still think many people who claim they want manual but will settle for automatic will balk at buying the car with an auto when it comes time to shell out.

The 2006 Charger SRT-8 has an MSRP of $35,320 according to edmunds.com. Not sure if that includes the guzzler tax or not. The challenger would probably be similar. The options on the high end Chargers are really limited, hopefully they'll go "old school" on the challenger and open up the floor to a wide variety of colors, rear gear ratios, interiors and have multiple trannie/engine combos.

No, that $35,320 does not include the $2,100 guzzler tax. Even with ZERO options, you cannot touch a Charger SRT-8 for less than $38K. You will have to order one with zero options, because they just don't build them for stock that way. The cheapest SRT-8 Charger I have found in dealer inventory was about $41K. Unfortunatley, I don't think you are going to see the Chally anywhere near $30K. I hope I am wrong. If it does come out that "cheap", sales of Chargers will cease (which should open up more production capacity for the Chally ).

Re: Ok...now what will the price be?

I'm hoping they'lll have a 5 speed 5.7L version for $26k - $30K to compete against the Mustang GT which you can get for this price. Since they're already leveraging an existing, although modified, platform, this should help costs.

Also if the SRT-8 version comes with an optional 5 speed and even MDS I believe it will 'dodge' (pun intended) the gas guzzler tax.

So my hope:

Challenger 5.7L 5 speed - $26K
Challenger 6.1L 5 speed - $30k

*crosses fingers...*

Re: Ok...now what will the price be?

I have read articles about them testing a 7.4L (426 ci). I have also seen articles with the 6.1L with a turbo. I figure either of these will be the SRT version of the charger and run the cost up to 45-50k but I still think the Daytona charger will go back on the lot......for sure

Where did you read about the 426? I heard about the 440 "super hemi" but nothing about a 426 or a 6.1L turbo. If you have links or references to the articles please post them. Even if they're just speculation it still is fun to read these things. Thanks
