Exclamation What do you think? Trim Packages for chally

well, im all for staying true to mopar roots. im only 16 so i wasnt around back when the pony cars first turned up. my ideas for trim options on the 08 chally should be as follows:

Base Model: 3.5L auto at 250 HP
SE: 5.7L auto at 350 HP
T/A: 6.1L with auto or 6 speed manual at 425 HP
R/T: 6.6L with 6 speed manual at 500+ HP

im not fond of the SRT name, i want this car to stay true to its roots in all ways possible while modernizing the technology. let me know what you think of these ideas. i know i definitely want to see a T/A and an R/T not SRT or SRT8. SRT is a name that should stay on fully modern sporty dodge vehicles like the viper and the ram SRT10, street racing to me seems like something little compacts would do. now, drag racing, thats where the challenger should be.

That would be a perfect lineup, IMO.

Technically, the T/A would have the 5.7 Hemi. It's the closet displacement for Trans Am racing specs, which back in the day a 5.0l engine was the largest you could have in a car...hence the Mustang Boss 302, Camaro 302, AMC's AMX/Javelin 343 and of course the 340 six pack in the Challenger.

Re: What do you think? Trim Packages for chally

Base model SE: 5.7L 350hp (I don't like the idea of V6 Challenger, the 5.7 already has a MDS system): $19K
T/A: a tuned 5.7L (Apro is right): something to fit in between..
R/T: 6.1L 425hp: $25K
SRT: 6.6L 550+hp: $35K

all the engines should have an automatic tranny and 6-speed manual one..

Re: What do you think? Trim Packages for chally

Mustang Boss is coming out with 390hp.. Dodge should either use 6.1L for the T/A or tune the 5.7 to 380-400hp

Re: What do you think? Trim Packages for chally

put in mind if DCX want to the Challenger to take the carbet from under the Mustang, they need to price the Challenger at the same level as Mustang with more horsepower.. IMO

which is exactly why i said put a 3.5 in the base model, i know the 5.7 has MDS but the v6 would be a lot cheaper i could see that going for 20K and a 5.7 starting around 25K a 6.1 around 30K and of course 6.6 at 35K or so.
