Ok, I figured this is the best place if any to get an idea of what most people are getting their Challengers for. What kindof price are most people paying for their 08 Challengers and what are they quoted for 09's?
Are you paying MSRP, below MSRP or how much over are you paying.
I would like to know so I can get an idea if I am getting a deal or not.
I ordered a 2009 SRT from Champion Dodge/Jeep in Barrington, IL for invoice plus 1/2 the difference between invoice and MSRP- about a $1,700 discount. I purchased out of state and will have to pay about $300 for a drop shipment to my local dealer or $500-600for an enclosed trailer delivery.
Ok, these guys got lucky or knew someone if they paid MSRP for an 08.
If your Joe Blow and stroll into a dealership on average, the markup is 10-15k for the 08 because its limited. Ive bought a dozen dodges at my dealership, my wife worked there for 14 years and I am still getting hosed. For a Dodge dealer, they need the money with auto sales what they are and Dodges gas mileage overall. The 09's should be sold like any other car. Frankly, I would not pay over sticker for an 09 any more then anything else on their lot.
I know a person locally, and saw a story here, about people who put a deposit down when the car was first officially announced (December 07?) and the dealers don't want to honor it, after all if you can make an extra 15 in this economy, why not.
...09 Challengers are already being offered on this forum well under MSRP...
...my 08 was ordered from a dealer I had NEVER purchased a car from before the Challenger...he voluntarily reduced it below MSRP, he hopes to sell me more cars.....he will
This is pretty positive news that we see some dealerships are not as bad as I or others may think about them. Not all are out there doing the ebay thing, but instead trying to earn the guys business and hopefully get more future business.
I don't think it is a bad thing for them to want to make money on the car, heck I will need them for service.
It just would kindof suck that alot of the loyalist to the Challenger that ordered these months ago were having to pay the way over MSRP thing.
Sounds like Dodge and the dealers are making some moves to build loyalty with the Challenger. It just may work!!!!
Well here in Jacksonville, Florida the dealerships are all trying to get way over MSRP for 2008's. NO wonder there is so little customer loyalty at dealerships like these.
Ive got friends that work in several Dodge dealerships here in Columbus. Heres what Im hearing. ( On 08's )
Nelson Autogroup got $61,905
TraderBuds taking bids, currently at $47,200
Spitzer Dodge sold 2, both for $46,905 ( sounds like 5g's over?)
Carriage Towne and Caldwell havent got theirs yet
well theres a dodge dealer in seguin tx just outside
san antonio and i heard they had a orange 2008 chally so i called them this morning and said car is not for sale as of now
but when they do decide to sell it there ganna be 25k over sticker
WOW :ugh2:
Yep, just like I predicted. A lot of dealers are going to hold on for dear life to a 2008 Challenger to slap it in their show room for the shot in the arm it will be give their sales. They're not going to give it up for anything less than obscene amounts over MSRP to make-up for the sales they'd lose without it on the floor. If you encounter one of those dealers, cross it off the list - never go back EVER even for a different car, and go to a dealership who cares about consumers (a rarity nowadays).
I went through three local dealers before I found a dealer who cared -- and I had to go out of state no less! It doesn't matter, though, it's well worth the shipping cost for the level of service I'm receiving. All of my future purchases will be through Bob.
25K over sticker....some of these guys are just too dumb to stay in business, or to earn any business. But if there is some idiot willing to toss away 25,000 over, why not.
Just FYI, Maxwell Dodge in Austin, TX told me they sold all of their '08s for $16k over MSRP. I suspect they are waiting to see what they can do on '09s because they told me, back on 6/16, they couldn't order one for me until they saw what their July allocation was (read when we get our allocation we will let people who want to order one bid 'em up). On top of that, they said they didn't have any pricing on the '09s. So, with this dealer, buyer beware.
That was enough for me to travel down I-35 to Fred Garza.
At least ya'll can get out of state dealers from just a simple drive... I live in Hawaii and the dealers here will mark up everything and a couple of them have "non negeotiable" mark ups... I saw a Charger SXT go for more than what I paid with an almost fully loaded R/T.
Can you buy it on the mainland and have it shipped to you?
I thought that one dealer was shipping to the islands. I did a quick search and championjeep, a supporting vendor
"If you get a chance give me a call. I have sent a couple vehicles to Hawaii so I am very familiar with the process. Also it will be simple to go over your options for ordering while I am talking to you.
