When are the V8's getting the 8 speed auto?

I've heard rumors the 392 with the 8 speed auto are testing right now and some have been known to run sub 4 second 0-60"s, anyone heard any scuttlebutt about this? When are teh V8's cars gonna get this tranny? I'm holding out hoping they come around in 2013 but have a feeling it's gonna be 2014 maybe.

As far as everything I've read, the 8 speed is for the new Pentastar v6.

I don't know the plans but I know they are working on getting the 8 SPeed tranny built in the US to serve Chrysler products because they don't have enough capacity in Germany for them. I believe I heard it will be on more products after that but I don't know when that is supposed to happen.

The last time this came up at allpar.com, the absolute earliest would be 2013MY. Most likely it won't be until 2014MY. Chrysler is not going to put the 8SPD behind the V8 until they are building the transmission themselves under the ZF license. I think the next to get the 8SPD is the V6 Durangos and Grand Cherokees.

The V8s wil not get the 8-speed. Apparently it cannot handle the torque put out by the 5.7, let alone the 392. V6 only.

The Bentley Mulsanne has a V8 that has more torque than the 392 and it has a variation of the 8-speed ZF auto. So it can handle the torque.

But then again, the Bentley costs over $300K LOL...

More importantly, it makes no sense to make the necessary modifications when 2014MY is the final Challenger production.

I'm just paraphrasing from what I've read from a number of sources.

true, the 8HP45 (what they're currently using in the V6 Charger SXT and 300) cannot handle the torque of the Hemis.

However, the 8HP70 and 8HP90 can.
