That is an interesting accessory. Maybe a little pricey, but definitely interesting.

I am interested in how this works. So it this using satellite signals to connect to the net?

I would like to see an option for the MyGig to connect to your house Wifi to sync songs as well...

Pretty cool, I am curious what security the wi-fi uses (network admin here, I like these kind of things)

Re: WiFi internet for the 2009 Challenger - Pricing

71GTX, if you watch the video introducing this feature in the Caravan (or something similar) it basically works in that there is literally a WiFi access point installed into the car (in the caravan it was on the roof).

So I assume you have standard encryptions available like WEP, WPA-PSK, and WPA2-PSK.

So basically *any* wireless device can use the internet access in your car simply by connecting to this wireless access point within your car. It's pretty neat.

Re: WiFi internet for the 2009 Challenger - Pricing

I think the system is using 3G cell service to connect similar to the wireless cards you get from AT&T or other vendor. I have one from Sprint and get pretty good download speeds depending on location.

Re: WiFi internet for the 2009 Challenger - Pricing

"Run over integrated 3G and 2.5G (EVDO, 1xRTT) cellular data networks, the router module with antenna hard-mounts in any vehicle. High-speed Internet access ranges from 400-800 Kbps/sec., with upload speeds averaging 400 Kbps/sec. The WiFi connection is secured with WEP encryption, MAC address restriction or WAN port restriction. Compatible with all operating systems supporting WiFi including Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris, no special software is required."

Re: WiFi internet for the 2009 Challenger - Pricing

Just be careful;, wep can be cracked in less than 30 seconds, and since the inititation packets are unsecured, you can grab a mac address REALLY easy. I was hoping they would have WPA2-with pre shared key (wpa2-psk), still a cool device, think I will wait for the gen 2 technology (no I don't use hotspots at all)

Re: WiFi internet for the 2009 Challenger - Pricing

Does your car have to be turned "on" for the internet access to work? If not, I'm thinking that I could cancel my home service, park my car in the garage, and access the internet inside my house through the car. I think I read that the range is around a 60 ft radius.
