Windshield rock chips, any way to protect glass?

Okay, so my car is a daily driver. In the course of driving my car, and yes, I drive my car every single day. I have accumulated 6 or 8 rock chips already in my windshield. One had to be "repaired" to prevent it from getting bigger. SO, my question is this, is there a company out there that makes a tear off windshield material (similar to the tear offs in racing) for our cars? I have to believe that tear off windshiels protective film would be less expensive than a new windshield.
Any one????????????

Nice idea, the comapny which replaced my windshield had not heard of anything. Had the windshield replaced in the challenger last month. Insurance paid for the whole thing with no deductible. Still sucks I had to have it replaced.

What is it with rocks and this car?! The first week I had mine, I saw a gravel truck and KNEW it was bad news. So rather than stay behind it, I stepped on the gas and tried to pass, and sure enough, just like out of a movie a rock hit the ground and in slow motion spun at 10000RPMs towards my windshield. And over the next week I had 2 more! I try to stay back but have you driven in texas? There is no such thing as a safe distance.

BTW FordMopar70, im curious how did you not have a deductible? At my rate I can see my self having to replace the windshield.

You can add a glass rider to your insurance plan. I think it was like $5.00 or $10.00 every 6mos or some small figure like that to cover multiple vehicles. Well worth it
