Lightbulb Your Intentions?

So what are your intentions for the new Challenger? Post them here.

I, for one, want the biggest, baddest engine they can shoe-horn into the thing, and I'm willing to wait for it, three years or more if need be. I'd love the 6.4L, or bigger! Oh, and the manual trans is the only way to go for me...

Also, mine will be jet black inside and out, with the windows tinted as dark as legally possible, and anything noting the engine size on the outside of the car will be peeled off at the dealership. its going to be one bad a$$ sleeper.

Won't be my daily driver but will definitely be driven on the weekends, in nice weather, and at the track.

So what are you gonna do with yours?

I will be buying a 2009 SRT (either 6.1 or 6.4) in Hemi Orange, autostick (if offered) with black interior. It will be my second car and will be used only for fun. I have no plans to take it to the track. Also, I will NEVER sell it.

Re: Your Intentions?

Either the 5.7 or 6.1 in a manual, def more likely to be 5.7

Basicly for me, it boils down to what Chrysler offers the empolyees. I know they didnt offer SRT chargers, so I might have to get an RT

Re: Your Intentions?

Personally, I plan to prolly use this as a "weekend" car, never sell it, and keep it in tip top condition. Possibly stock up on replacement parts and/or mods so that when I have kids I can teach them about respecting old skewl stuff. I learned my lesson with the Chevelle. I dont want to make the same mistakes my folks did by letting it sit in a Michigan driveway while it rusts away. I still miss that car... I will drive it during the nice days, going out on the town, cruising thru Detroit - and various other cities, going to clubs, mackin on the ladies, and taking it to the track prolly cause I had always wanted to do that with my '72 Chevelle. How well it will do, i dunno. I just need to save up now for the taxes, i'm about half way there.

To speak the truth. Had I not won the chally, then I may have bought it and had it my everyday car. However, I don't even know if I could consciously buy a gas guzzler in this day and age with gas prices being the way they are as well as this whole global warming thing while I sit here in my chemistry lab designing the batteries that will be powering the plug-in Chevy Volt and Saturn Vue electric cars. The only reason I got an Explorer is because i bought it cheap off my folks. My hope is that I will be able to have one of these plug-ins/hybrids for my long daily commute of driving to and from Downriver to Ann Arbor to Detroit and use the Challenger as my "super happy fun" car.

And yes, I am prepared for and expecting the firestorm by mentioning electric vehicles and global warming on a MOPAR enthusiast site. But come one.. 150mpg - Hellz Yeah!

Re: Your Intentions?

I am waiting a couple years to see how big an engine they come up with and to see what the aftermarket looks like. Between it and my goat I will use one for daily driving and one for the 1/4 mile.

Re: Your Intentions?

I plan to use this car as my daily driver for awhile. So it needs to get 25 mpg on the highway. If a 6.1 with 6 speed will meet the fuel mileage that will be the choice. It's looking more like a 5.7 with 6 speed. Drive it for a few years then put it in the garage for safe keeping. I'm going to leave it totally stock except for the exhaust. Probably silver or gunmetal in color. Hopefully they will have a black/red interior option. That looks really good in the GTO.

Re: Your Intentions?

08: look and see, wait for the furor to run out and prices to normalize;won't pay markup.
09: again maybe, depends on what it really looks like and what options are available. If still overpriced I'll probably go look elsewhere. $35k is my self imposed limit on a toy. Am only interested in a 5.7L model tagged "R/T" with a stick. I loved the "color pallette tool" that someone posted a link to, would like mine in a blue as close to the old B7 Jamaica Blue Metallic as possible with either black hood or R/T side stripes.
Initially it'll probably be a weekend car but over time we tend to drive them more and I have no concerns about collectibility, just don't care anymore. These things are for fun, not profit.

Re: Your Intentions?

I will most likely be looking at an 09-10 model. (I need to pay off the wife's car first) It will have the biggest engine I can afford, Yellow 6-spd, and hopefully a ragtop. I think that about covers it. Oh the only thing that will change my mind, is if they unveil the 'Cuda! Sorry guys, the 'Cuda is my first love, the Challenger is a very close second though. I fell like a kid at Christmas!

Re: Your Intentions?

I agree with a previous post, it will be a weekend good weather drive car and a tool to help teach my kids how to respect things. I too wish my family didn't let the old classic waste away in the Ohio winters outside. As far as adding mods, the first addition will be the classic American Racing Torq-Thrust Original (Series 309) wheels.
