Arrow Rubbel's '09 Challenger SRT8 *INSANE* Project by BMC ... It Begins!

At the end of last year I picked up Jim's (aka rubbel) 2009 Challenger SRT8 in Tampa, and brought it here for what will become an outrageous build! The goal is a 800 rwhp NHRA certified drag race car that is also capable of being a daily driver and a car show beauty! We have teamed up with the best in the business to make this project top-notch, and are having a number of parts custom made as well ... it's exciting to be the first to do some of these truly extreme modifications. We have already been contacted by manufacturers about magazine write-ups!

Special thanks in advance to PPP for creating a one-of-a-kind 426 stroker and to Techco for the brand new reverse revolution twin-screw supercharger, which is the heart of the new beast! As we begin the build, I'll post up all the details about the parts we're using and I've set up a new section of our BMC Performance forums for rubbel's build which will contain pics, write-ups and information on rubbel's build. So stay tuned ... LOTS to come over the next several weeks! Here is the special rubbel section: Rubbel - 2009 Challenger SRT8 - BMC Performance Forums

Here's Jim and his Challenger, as they were last seen together when he handed over the keys to me ... stock.

Thank you Jim, for choosing us for this project!!

Re: Rubbel's '09 Challenger SRT8 *INSANE* Project by BMC ... It Begins!

To kick off the build for rubbel, we had a 10-point NHRA certified roll cage custom-built by Anthony at Race Car Builders. So, his car has been at the cage builder all week, getting a full 10-point roll cage with removable door bars, all in chromoly and painted black. We got some pics of the progress, thus far, which is just of the raw chromoly cage being built in the car. Anthony does such a nice job because you cannot see the cage from outside the car. The sun visors and rearview mirror all work as they did from the factory and the only thing we have to relocate is the rear package tray speakers.

Yesterday the cage was removed, painted black, and was welded into the car. Reassembly of the interior is next and we should be able to pick up the car the beginning of this coming week.

Now that is a wicked project. Congrats to both Rubbel and BMC. The guy that welded that cage definitely know how to weld that's for sure. Rubbel, does it make you even a little nervous seeing your baby all stripped down? I guess just keep your eye on the prize.

Looking good. Congrats on the build opportunity. I can vouch for Anthony over at race car builders. He does awesome work. He has done all of our cages in the past. Top notch work and a awesome guy!

Good luck with the build! Looking forward to some more pics.

Re: Rubbel's '09 Challenger SRT8 *INSANE* Project by BMC ... It Begins!

Not nervous anymore. Just very excited. Making all the necessary decisions and second guessing was the nervous part. PPP (Power Ported Performance) and BMC Performance (Andy Underwood at PPP and Lisa Wall at BMC) are both extremely knowledgeable and capable organizations with a very well proven track record. I tried to select only the best for this build and I feel my goals will be accomplished thanks to PPP and BMC as well as all the other companies like Techco who are supplying parts capable of withstanding the performance level we are seeking to attain. Keep watching this thread as there will be some very interesting developements and hopefully something worthwhile for each of us to learn more about these great cars we own.
