Hey folks. Heard via word of mouth that a custom George Harris Challenger is on display at Huffines dealership in Plano. Have not heard of it and this is the only pic I could find.
Not 100% sure what I think of it yet without seeing more but it could be pretty cool...
BARRIS: Well, actually I’m doing custom versions of the [2009] Challenger and [2010] Camaro. On the Camaro I’m adding 22-inchers [wheels, tires], special [graphic] impressions on the doors, using carbon fiber on the nose and upgrading the interior. It will be available through selected dealers this summer. For the Challenger I added more carbon fiber pieces, painted it candy red, altered the doors [scissor style] and call it the Red Demon. I also added a supercharger, and the engine now pumps out 725 horsepower. I’ll upgrade the audio system and interior. I want people to say, “Why didn’t they [the factory] do that?”
1st: The man is a god. An icon. An innovator. Without parallel. All props, I bow before his genius.
2nd: Even Da Vinci eventually got too old and/or too senile to hold a brush. Something tells me this is a commercially oriented operation using his name as a marketing tool, and NOT him personally doing the wonderfully fresh, innovative and sometimes amusing work he has done for decades.
George, please retire gracefully. This thing looks like azz.
There is no artistry. There is no whimsy. There is no theme. There is no reason for this monstrosity, except maybe trying to rope in some bux from people with more income than taste. Take a look at my (very typical) avatar above -- a fresh, exciting, dynamic look. Then look at this crap. That is supposedly an improvement, something I'd prefer, and am going to be willing to pay money for? Hardly.
Looks like a tuner car. Roofvent? Ground effects, look 3med on. Biggest sin to me, adding a hoodscoop, to a hoodscoop hood. I'm old, so never been a fan of lambo doors, but hey, most folks will probably think it's a Macaro, anyway!
I think George is overrated anyways.
His place is close to me and seen his cars up close. Not a fan. He needs to retire. He got lucky and made his name early on in LA LA land when competition was scarce.
As they say, here in Hollyweired, everything is fake.
