I have a 2009 R/T Challenger that came with 18" wheels (P235/55R18).
I put 2012 Charger chrome 20" wheels and tires (P245/45R20) on with the 2012 factory sensors.
No tire light came on when I test drove it. A day later I let one tire down to 26 psi and drove it 2 miles and the light never came on, so I reinflated to 32 psi.
I used the DiabloSport InTune to reprogram the tire/wheel size (was less than 50 rpm at 55 mph).
Six weeks later as the fall cooler air moved in, my tire light came on. Tires were 29-30 psi, so I inflated all to 32 psi and after driving a couple hundred yards the light went off. So the 2012 sensors are now working on my 2009 R/T.
From other posts, I see the 2009 used the older sensors 56029400,
and the 2010 and newer used the sensors 56029398.
Anyone else having experience using the wrong sensor in a different year Challenger? I don't have the upgraded EVIC, just the base dash light.
