Finally got my MRR wheels on yesterday. They look amazing. Drove the car home about 40 miles. It's unbelievable. It's like driving a go kart. Lol. The car sits way too low for street driving. No more. I just wanted to see if everything was fine before going to the track. So far so good.
They're the MRR FS01 18x9.5 with 16mm offset. Weigh about 22 lbs each due to the offset. With the Nitto NT01 275/35 they weigh 50 lbs. My oem cast aluminum yellow jacks wheels with Nitto NT05s weighted 63 lbs each. The Nitto NT05s are said to weigh about 31 lbs so the oem wheels are about 32 lbs each.
Circle tracks
I'm in so cal. So far I've done Streets of Willow, Big Willow, both tracks in Willow Springs. Button Willow, AAA Speedway both nascar and infield. All numerous times. I've got about 2500 track miles so far. I just want to take it to the next level. NASA and SCCA. And I'm hoping to get my racing license soon.
Thank you brother. You kinda helped too. Lol. No you did. Adam was great. Was gonna go with forgestar f14s but didn't feel like dealing with all the drama over there like being out of stock and taking months for delivery. Plus I think someone in on another forum weighted their 18x9.5s and the weight came in at the same. The place I got them from gave me a package deal with the tires that I couldn't turn it down. Basically the same as the forgestars.
You've got a pretty badass setup yourself. Just kinda disappointed they came in at 22.5 lbs. Was hoping for 19 lbs but I think the 16mm offset killed it. Too much padding. Was worried about the knuckle clearance. I could of gone with 18 or even 20 offset. Oh well.
Here's a pic of the front
And here's the pic of the knuckle clearance
I've about 3" ground clearance from pavement to front pinch weld and 4 3/4" at the front splitter.
My low low profile floor Jack doesn't even fit under the pinch weld so I've to use a 2x12 board.
Just took them off today so I could pull into my driveway.
Yes they will fit. If you're talking about putting toyo r888 on dedicated track wheels, I would NOT do that. The nt01s are the only way to go IMO. I have spoken to a lot of track guys that run these tires, read a gazillions posts from various forums, and I'd say 98% are extremely pleased with the NT01s. Most of those testimonials came from them trying different brand tires at first.
The problem with the toyo r888 is that they are not designed for our heavy cars. They become greasy after several laps. If you're talking about putting them on your oem 20" wheels with occasional tracks and not daily drive with them, I still wouldn't do it. You really have to do your homework and run the tires at its ideal high temp point to get the max benefits out of them. I asked you this question twice in your thread but you didn't answer me. Maybe you were having too much fun on that day at the track
The NT05s have worked extremely well for me on my oem wheels with track days. Mine is not a DD and I make sure I run the tires at their ideal hot temp. That's why I was able to get 4 track days out of them. And I'm on my 4th set.
I don't have to because the wheels are 18" and plenty of fender gap even with my coilovers.
Here's my car with the oem wheels
Even if you were to go with aftermarket 20" wheels you don't have to roll the fenders as long as you go with at least 18mm offset. The 285s will clear without any issues.
FYI, the 15+ model year come with rolled fenders from the factory.
A friend of mine has a 2013 RT with SRT knuckles, Brendon brakes, coilovers, and he put on the hellcat wheels on with 285/40/20s without any issues. I believe the hellcat wheels are 18mm offset.
