Non aggressive street driver here, so post up.
Like to see your thoughts..
I'm open to either set up... Car won't see 2000 mi/yr...
The rubber...pretty much decided to go w/ the Continental DWS06, as I do drive my car in cold (but dry) temps
Thanks...
No issues with fit or rubbing had them on for 1,900mi so far
Waiting for dry / warm weather to explore the grip (there's a lot of it) - have explored a bit, but tires had <300mi on them, so mold release compound hadn't worn off (less grip).
-took delivery and temps were running 28*-30*, now its raining - a lot.
I have a 2015 if that makes any difference Hal..
No worried about rotating them...
My car won't see 5-7k miles before I trade this one in..
But I do plan to hold onto this one for 3-4 years.. (yea right).....
The current factory RSA-2 are a little sloppy for my liking..
I favor the practicality of being able to rotate - the rear has greater negative camber (~ -1.75* for rear) than the fronts.
Chrysler recommends tire rotations every 6K - which tells you something about what is anticipated for tire wear.
The steering feels the same whether with 245s or 275s up front - frankly the 245s look 'stretched' on the 20 x 9 SP wheels. Almost like a smaller tire got put on by mistake.
I will be in the minority. I intend to replace my 245/45/20 rear tires with 275/40/20s. However, I will keep 245/45/20s on the front for that "old school" look. Tire rotation, for better wear, is not concern for me because of the low mileage that I put on my SRT.
I love my 275/40's all around. Haven't got to drive it as much as I've wanted because of the crappy roads in winter. I just installed the DWS06 on my scat and could instantly feel a difference over the the good years, plus they filled the fender wells up better too.
I've run both sizes up front and my personal preference is the 275/40/20 the feedback is much improved and the car stays planted in turns and the ride quality is still very good... I do run a much larger tire in the rear 315/35/20 on 10" rim, I like my cars slammed low with big meats underneath better handling and a tough look.
Which tires are you looking at Yo-El (never mind that's a good tire have a few friends using it and very happy)
275/40/20 all 4 corners will work and you will like the feel. :guiness:
First Challenger I've had with the 275's up front. I did have to put mud flaps on the front. Also, I understand weather may not be a concern, but, this beast with the 275's will hydroplane like crazy in the rain. (Any water standing, above 50 mph is crazy)
Just my 2 cents. I will not drop the front size down because I do like the look. The Nitto's are great!
I just had the Conti DWS06 275/40/20 put on all 4 corners. I think i am in love, make the factory tires feel like junk. Totally different car, the disconnected feeling is gone from the car, now it feels right as it should.
Well, I'm drinking the Continental kool-aid. Ordered the DWS06 275 40's all the way around. They sound too good to pass up. Can't wait to try them out now.
Finally got the chance to run the hell out of my new tires. Ran a 70 mile loop of all 2 lane country roads and was SUPER impressed with the improvement of the car with the DWSO6 tires. Only got behind 4 cars the entire way and still beat my previous attempt by 7 minutes. I know, 71 minutes for 70 miles doesn't sound like much, but this is ZERO highway miles, and all country roads with no straights longer then 1/3 of a mile. The posted limit is 55 mph between communities and 25 and 35 in these tiny WV towns.
I did notice a decent increase in tire pressures, cold started at 29 psi, and the ended at 36 psi, but I was really hard on the car between the small communities. Also added a pic of my top G-Force on the drive. Not sure how it stacks up to most, but from behind the wheel and not on the track I felt pretty good about it.
I'm putting the Conti's DSW 06's on my Challenger as soon as my tax refund comes in. My Hankook's are pretty much slicks at this point, as I just had it up on the lift at my buddy's dealership to install my cat delete mids and had a chance to look at them. I'm either going 255/40 or 265/40 in the front and 315/35 in the back. Really looking forward to seeing how they perform because anything will be better than these hard ass high performance summer tires with barely any tread left on them in this February cold weather.
I have a 2015 r/t with 20"x8" wheels. My sister in law is getting a 2016 r/t plus with the hyper black II forged aluminum wheels 20"x9". She doesn't like the wheels but likes mine, I agreed to trade her. I was curious if anyone knows it there will be any fitment issues with putting the Mickey Thompson street comp 305/35r20 on them, or fitment with the wheels wells? Thanks for the help.
Just put 275/40/20 BF Goodrich g-Force Comp-2 A/S (could they possibly make the name any longer?) all around on my Scat Pack last week. Haven't had much of a chance to run her in the new shoes, but I do love the look. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I'll have a chance to test them out soon.
