2007/08 BOSS Mustang?!?!

I heard rumors that the folks over at Ford are putting together a Boss Mustang. Apparently, a 5.4L without the blower (which the GT500 has), 390-410hp ballpark.

Would be a nice car... although I'd rather have the Challenger if/when it comes out, and if its produced in enough numbers to make it affordable.

The Boss Mustang would be a nice addition to the musclecar wars we're seeing... enough power to smash the uber rice (3400-3600 lb car w/390hp), yet just below the Hemi monster 6.1 in the Challenger and the blown GT500.

I've heard the exact same rumor and I think it's a good chance it's going to happen. Not sure where I read it, (I subsribe to 4 different car magazines) but if I were a betting man I'd say it's for sure.

From what I have been reading in all Mustangs forums (I have a 2005 Mustang GT, so I am keeping an eye on any development concerning the 'Stang), indeed it seems Ford will be offering relatively soon a Boss Mustang and yes rumour is that it'll have the 5.4L V8 in NA form, hearing of 370-390 hp.
Though I believe it won't get here in time for the 2007 model year.

As far as what's new for the 2007 model year Mustang, there are three vehicles:
- as probably all of you know, the Shelby GT500 Coupe and Convertible;
- a CS edition of the Mustang GT. That's California Special (and yes, it's confirmed, dealerships have all codes available in their computer system if you want to order one. Though I don't think you can yet order a 2007 Mustang, but codes are indeed already there.). From what I have seen, only aesthetics are concerned.

For the Boss, well we shall see...

PS: hp figures for the GT and GT/CS are the same as now, so 300 hp. Rumour is that for the next upgrade in HP for the 4.6L 3v V8, we'll have to wait for the 2009 model year (when the current S197 Mustang will be restyled...they say they're gonna give the car some ... "hips", a little bit like the Camaro concept, if you know what I mean) and rumour is 325-340 hp.

I too own a mustang gt, 2006. While I am a Mopar guy at heart, I do love this mustang, and to toss in another 70-90 hp, only makes it more attractive... plus "Boss" Mustang styling.

We'll have to wait and see... the Challenger, at this time seems to be the best 2 dr without a doubt.

Yea but DCX needs to get off their ass and say something. We are not going to wait forever. I have to think that every day that goes by, someone else out there decides not to wait anymore for official news and moves on to their 2nd choice.

The way I feel about this whole new 'muscle car' resurgence frenzy is that it'll only become much better for the 'Average Joe' consumer...such as myself.

Well, if DCX won't produce the Challenger and Ford does produce in decent numbers a Boss version, I probably will buy it to replace my GT.
But my #1 hope is still for the Challenger (and yes I am a Mopar fan at heart as well !!! ): DCX ... come on, move it !!!

.. I quess we pretty much can kiss owning a GT500 as well -- there will only be 7500 GT500s are going to all dealers not just SVT -- cause SVT is NO MORE....

.....I know that article says that about all the dealers getting one,but that's not true,...as the dealership must be svt certified to even work on the vehicles,as i have seen the official paperwork from ford!
