Re: 2007/08 BOSS Mustang?!?!

The reason windows rattle is from people slamming the door shut with the window rolled partially down. In a normal car when you shut the door with the window up the glass meets foam which prevents it from loosening. With the new Stang every time you shut the door the window is down half an inch. This will insure that in years to come it will rattle nicely. Besides what happens if the battery dies? Do you have to break the window to get in, or to get out? The molding hangs down over the window.
I don't mind the Mustang except for the bulbous hood. Oh yea, and ITS A FORD!

You may want to credit the Mustang with a retro muscle car revolution but retro for automobiles started in 1993 with the Ram pickup.

The Charger is what it is and when I see an SRT Charger in my rear view mirror it sure a hell of a lot better looking than ANY mustang.

February sales: Mustang 13,367, Charger 11,862
Someone must like them!

Silly me, I thought this was a Challenger site.
Excuse me for being bored with the Ford banter.

I don't understand what people do NOT like about the new Mustangs... they look good and they move pretty well... whole new design, better engine... for $28,000 fully loaded, you'd have a hard time finding a competitive vehicle. And you can actually sit in the rear seat if you're not over 6'.

I'm a mopar guy at heart, but, the 'deal' for this GT is damned good.

Cool Re: 2007/08 BOSS Mustang?!?!

Amen rrhemi!!!! My best friend just bought an srt charger. It is so bad!!!! You Mustang boys and gals go jump on one. You'll get spanked so bad! Hey I wish it were retro to, but do you people remember it was only a few years ago that if you wanted a rear wheel drive V8 you had to buy a truck! Vipers are cool if your rich enough to afford one. You can own RWD hemi cars now! Are you people really "Mopar at heart" or just jumping on the band wagon! I loved Mopars when only Mopar people wanted them. I bought my Cuda for $1100. back in 1985 340 no rust, drove it home. No one was standing in line to buy it back then. Mopars are like Harley davidsons, Every one wants them when they become cool, or valueble. Give me an ugly mopar any day over a mustang. And if you pull up beside it you might get spanked. Mopars having been doing that to fords for years.

I am a Mopar fan at heart, but when Ford came out with the Mustang and its fabulous retro looks, I couldn't resist. The problem is that at the moment there is only one car that looks like the old ones and it's the Mustang and on top of that, the fact it's so cheap, made many people buy one.

While it could be possible that a Charger SRT8 will spank a Mustang GT, you got to consider that the Charger SRT8 is the top of the line for Charger performance...the Mustang GT is at the bottom, as the Shelby GT500 is coming out and I believe this BOSS Mustang will be as well there one day and fairly soon (as said, 2007 or 2008).
Now take the top of the line Mustang, the Shelby GT500 with 50 hp more and about 200 lbs less and the Charger SRT8 will not feel THAT hot...am I right ?

PS: I love Mopar's, but please no bashing of other cars, especially if they are that good like the new Mustang. If instead of Ford, DCX would have produced such a vehicle and at the same price, I bet everyone in here would have been ecstatic about it. So please, let's keep it on a decent level of fairness, ok ?

Re: 2007/08 BOSS Mustang?!?!

Sure, you are right, relatively speaking. Have you driven an SRT 8? It is one sick ride!
At least little Sara can sit in the back and watch Finding Nemo while that Shelby is blowing my doors off! Maybe when she grows up she will help Dad put a supercharger on the hemi.
Mopar or no car.

Right on the mark!! And ford was the first to the retro styled muscle car with the new stang,..and although I am a mopar guy and want the new hemi challenger, the new stang is no slouch! An srt-8 will not be able to hold with a new shelby gt500,...as I own a srt-8,...and while its pretty quick for a 4200lb car,and people talk about adding a s/c and exhaust on it to get 500 rwhp,..as they won't get much more with the higher compression pistons and all, being able to run only about 6-7 lbs. of boost. And those mods would be very expensive just to get 500rwhp or so! The new shelby on the other hand needs only a pulley change, exhaust and tune for 640 rwhp(they can run boost up alot higher)...no comparison! Like I said i want the new hemi challenger(and they better put the 6.4l in the srt-8 version to stay competitive with the gt500 pony car war).,but by no means would I ever dish the new retro stang,as I really love any and all American retro styled muscle cars,...and the only ones out there soo far are the stang and challenger(at least I hope the challenger makes it),....and sorry,...but a 1993 ram truck,..is not a "Retro 2 dr. muscle car"!! ..That's too funny!!

Re: 2007/08 BOSS Mustang?!?!

Read again, I did not say that the Ram was a "Muscle car".

We're talking American retro styled 2dr. muscle cars here, that's all I'm interested in,"and that retro look" started with the new stang, and challenger will hopefully be 2nd to join in,...soon I hope,AS I'm patiently waiting with many others as well!...All the rest I don't consider retro ,as they need alot more than colors or decals,..or whatever to qualify!!

Eheheh...I see your point...
On the other hand, you RRHemi are a married man like I am, and let me tell you, stuffing your mother in law in the backseat of a Mustang is an experience that will have any married man crack at least a little smile...I tried it (actually it's because my wife has a bad back, therefore she wouldn't let her own mother in the front seat...so either it was the front seat or her mother had to walk...), it was quite a funny sight !!! Ehehehe
So I guess positive and negatives can be found in both cars...

Yep, right there with you.
I believe that the Mustang and even the Camaro (if they keep it pretty close to the concept...in production form, it ought to be a bit less cartoonish-looking, if you ask my opinion, though...) will deserve respect: retro looking muscle cars with good power and really good performance.
IMHO, I see no problem with that.
I personally decided I will go for the Challenger, because 1) it's the one I love the most as far as looks 2) it's a Mopar 3) my fav. muscle car of all times were the 70-71 'Cudas and seen Plymouth is dead, the closest thing to such a car is a Challenger, so all in all it's my dream becoming true.
I frankly believe the Chally with the 6.1 will not be a match for the GT500 in pure performance, as the power difference (+50 hp in favor of the Shelby) combined with (most likely) a weight disadvantage for the Chally (at the end I get the feeling the Challenger will be in between 4000 and 4100 lbs., versus 3920 for the GT500), I think it will give the GT500 a bit of an edge.
This said, if the Challenger will go, let's say for example in 4.7 from 0 to 60 and do a quarter mile in 13 and change, while the Shelby will do the same in 4.4 and 12.9 (again using some numbers to make an example), I honestly don't really care. I am not a professional racer...
If my concern would be pure performance where even little tenths of second would be of the utmost importance, what the heck, I'd buy a friggin' Ariel Atom for 47k (if you don't know what it is, it's basically a UFO on wheels) and do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds !
And if someone will want to bust my chops and say some childish stuff like "my GT500 does the 0-60 in 0.3 seconds less than yours and the quarter mile in 0.5 seconds less, your car sucks !": well, let me use my french...who gives a friggin', flying f*** about it !!!

Though for me the Challenger will have to be at least pretty close to the performance capabilities of my regular '05 Mustang GT (5.0-5.1s 0-60, 13.6-13.8 1/4 mile), who cares if it's not right there. But not if it's like a second away in the 0-60, like the Charger R/T with the 5.7L V8 is.
So for me it's either the 6.1 or up (I still have a dream of a 6.4L...or the same engine a bit detuned for possible reliability, but brought to 7.0L ... or 426 c.i. for you old style guys, the magic number...) or nothing.
I don't care if it's auto, semiauto, standard, what type of options will be available, what external colors, what internal colors...
Keep that car at max. at 4000-4100 lbs and give me at least a 6.1 and you got yourself a sale, DCX...

LMAO!!! My mother in law is 5 ft nothing she would probably fit just fine. Of course she would still be able to reach her cell phone and that is not good!
