For those of you interested to see many high resolution close-up pictures of the rusted car, go here and take a look:

Re: Buried 1957 Plymouth Belvedere
I pretty much think so ; maybe, just maybe the glass may be salvageable, see a tiny bit of the bumper's shiny chrome peeking through.Yip !! The engine is purportedly a conglamorate of rusted steel
; and any other piece of metal/steel. Any fabric/material has to be either molded/mildewd and/or disease carrying matter .Oh y-ahhh, Christine must be livid at the least ! I mentioned before that the best thing for this poor 1957 Belvidere would be the crusher and into the open hearth; but there may not be any residual steel to be had !!! Looking at one picture and others seem to my non- knowing/technical eyes that at the very least the top area of this concrete vault had inadequate sealage. It would have probably been better to pour a rectangular Mason Ball jar/container with a water tight rubber seal along with a few sacks of that silica material for water absorbtion !! I'm kinda hesitating to say what may be best ; which just simply may be to lower "Mrs. Belvedere" back into this mucky pit & let bygones be gone !!! She was so, so pretty !!!! P.S. I just wonder if Chrysler has all of the molds to crank out several thousand exact replicas of the 1957 Plymouth Belvidere : which thereby would be step one in the revival of the Plymouth nameplate. I do not need to say which Plymouth would be next ! !!! !!!Last edited by Ragamuffin : 06-18-2007 at 04:01 PM. |

Re: Buried 1957 Plymouth Belvedere
What a shame! What a waste of such a beautiful car. How sad.
Who buries a car in a pit that fills with water?

Re: Buried 1957 Plymouth Belvedere
That's what happens when people think up a great idea to make a time capsule, but don't think about what will actually happen to it. If we could just convince people to start thinking more.....
