Re: Camaro to get green light

Well, I wonder if it'll be as unreliable as most of GM's other vehicles : i.e. more trips to the repair shop..... at least based upon Consumer Report's assessment of vehicles !

And I wonder what it will look like...because the only thing for sure is that the Camaro concept is nowhere near a production model, both outside and inside...

Re: Camaro to get green light

Stang has sold 100,000+ unit a year and Camaro is planned for 100,000 car a year
while the Challenger is gonna be between 30,000 and 40,000 which gonna make us race to buy it before it's outta stock..
the challenger's gonna be rare compared to them and gonna have a better re-sale value in about 20 years..

You say this like its a bad thing. I can only hope and pray they take an original 1969 camaro and retool the entire concept body to be more faithful like dodge did with the challenger. The camaro concept as is looks like ass, its angles feel way off (to me at least) and the nose looks like a wedge. They need to go old school, not new-old school.

The good news is with the engine selections likely to wind up in this car you can bet DCX will be putting in a 6.4L or even the rumored 6.6L engine. They may even go beyond that and introduce a new elephant motor. Great times to be a power monger, finally after all these years.

No, no, I didn't mean it with any "flavor".

I just meant to say that from what we can understand the Camaro will be a retro' looking muscle car, this should be safe to say as GM wants it to be their answer to the retro S197 Mustang and to the super-retro Challenger.
This said, I believe there are two things to consider:
1 - the Camaro concept is very far away from what could be the production car we will see in showrooms. What GM will do to it to finalize its looks it's just a big question mark (and this is what I was saying). Will they do it in a super modern retro' way ? Or more conservative like the Challenger ? Or perhaps they will go right to mid way and have an approach like Ford had with the S197 Mustang ? Who knows...
2 - knowing GM's track record and their current line up which is not incredibly attractive (excepted the Vette), IMO at least, I am not very much confident in their ability to create something that will be great looking. Look at what they did to the GTO...

If you ask my opinion, I feel they will come out with a V6 and a couple of V8s, probably the Vette 6.0L and 400 hp and the 7.0L and 500 hp.
As far as design, I would bet my money that they will keep the looks of the concept but make it a lot more mainstream...so, all in all, "modern retro" like the Mustang...
That's what I'd bet they will do...
