Car Runs on Air!

Tired of paying over $3 per gallon for gasoline?

How would you like a car that runs on air?

A French car company, Moteur Developpement International (MDI), has developed a car that runs on compressed air instead of gasoline called the MiniCAT.

It costs 2 cents per mile to operate (instead of 12 cents per mile for gasoline-powered cars), gets 125 miles per tank and has a top speed of 70 miles per hour. Sorry guys, no 1/4 mile or 0-60 mph times.

The air is heated and compressed using an electrically-powered device similar to the kind that compresses the air for scuba tanks. As a side benefit, the heat of the air compression process can be used to heat a home’s water.

3,000 MiniCATs will go on sale this summer in Europe and its French producer is wondering if the car will be hard to sell because it is such a new idea. I guess time will tell.

Re: Car Runs on Air!

So now cars will contribute to sucking more air out of the air , among ourselves hmmmm it would be good if it shot back out the exhaust clean air (like some others) otherwise we'll be suffocating quicker heheh

Re: Car Runs on Air!

Ahhh , does this mean that this 'Aircar' has a hitch and the person's home is being hauled around ; or when 'Aircar' arrives home and is 'hitched' up, the permanent home/structure would be able heat things up/cool things down ??? I hope the home has an auxillary source for when 'Aircar' runs errands and there are occupants in/at home !!/ !!

Re: Car Runs on Air!

Another thing , electrical cars once they dominate the planet will be contributing to earth pollution with their batteries (acid) unless they come up with recycled ones ... hmm ... then again recycling causes pollution too ! We're bound to fail one way or another

Re: Car Runs on Air!

Almost every car like this looks like s**t... Just like the first hybrids and that hideous looking Honda with the ugly ass rear wheel skirts on it. WTF was that all about?
