Is the Challenger better than the Camaro?

http://www.detroitnews.com/apps/pbcs...73250454825613

they are all going to be at sema this year so i was wondering which car would be a better bang for your buck.

I haven't seen a challenger vs camaro thread on here so i was wondering.

Camaro:

Pros:
  • supposed to get at least 20 mpg in the city.
  • priced at mustang levels
  • supposedly is supposed to have 100,000 available
Cons:
  • most will be released in v6's that means old ladies driving them
  • doesn't have the uniquesness of the challenger
  • no retro colors.
Challenger

Pros:
  • Unique and should be rare
  • sounds good and draws a crowd
  • retro colors baby!!!
  • more power and better suspension
Cons:
  • Low productions means higher price
  • mpg looks pretty crappy.
  • Not everyone can get one at the first of the year.
So what do yall think, which car is the better bang for your buck. I'm totally stumped except i want the car to be unique and not see an old lady driving behind the wheel in a v6 engine.

Also 100th post :-)

Re: Is the challenger better than the camaro

I doubt you will see the Camaro hit 20 in the city. V8's never do well, unless you cripple it with the annoying 1 - 4 shifting. Chevrolet does have superior gas mileage then Ford and DCX though.

For pricing, the camaro with the V6 will be fairly comparitve if a little more then the Mustang. At the V8 level, the Mustang has 300hp and the Camaro will probably be rated around the 400hp range. Chevrolet will probably charge a premium for it. Probably, in the GTO range. I doubt you will see a low option Camaro for a long while.

I like the Challenger, the rarer it is the better... It won't be a daily driver, and I doubt driven much in the winter. With 2 feet of snow and the V8's torque it would be nuts to try. Plus, I have a 4X4 to play in the snow with...

Unfortunately for Chevrolet, unless they have gone away from the board mentality, I doubt you will see the colors as much as DCX has been coming out with on the Charger. I think DCX has an advantage there IF they starting working it! GO Panther Pink! DCX has a lot of heritage to play with, so does Chevrolet if they take advantage of it.

ya i know it's gonna be regular colors, that's why i like challenger's retro colors that make it stand out on the street. But it's gonna be a bitch trying to get the color you want the first year.

Oh yeah! Your favorite color will have to be the color that is on the lot... 8)

I have a feeling that will be the way for either car. Unless you know the dealer really well. We actually do a lot of work for the local GM dealership... Be damn if it is the Challenger that I want though... He will understand... I hope..

Re: Is the challenger better than the camaro

I suspect GM is going to wait for the final build and pricing of the Challenger and then tailor the packaging and cost of the Camaro to do the most damage. I'm a huge Mopar fan, but I have a feeling the Camaro will be serious competition. GM has some awesome V8 engines and the ability to sell a lot of cars. It'll be interesting to see who is the first to get squeezed out of the new muscle car market. Ford, GM, and DCX are preparing to do battle for our hearts and wallets.
