Question 'Challenger' concept vs. LS1 'GTO' & '04 Mustang 'Cobra'?

will the new challenger be able to smoke an ls2 gto and a 04 mustang cobra?

Re: come and answer

Yes it will smoke them hands down.It will smoke my old 74 challenger too even though it has a pretty quick 440.

Re: 'Challenger' concept vs. LS1 'GTO' & '04 Mustang 'Cobra'?

Who knows? Try these and guess for yourself.

2005 300C SRT8 = 4.9 0-60, 13.3 Quarter mile
2005 LS2 GTO = 4.8 0-60, 13.0 Quarter mile
2004 Cobra = 4.5 0-60, 12.9 Quarter mile

I am not optimistic right now that the Challenger will be lighter than a 300C, but with manual transmission it will beat the above numbers, so it's just flat impossible to say if the Challenger can beat the Cobra.

FWIW...

20005 Mustang GT500 = 4.7 0-60, 13.1 Quarter mile

So no threat from the GT500. I think they would have been better maxing out the 4.6 rather than going with the blown 5.4 and adding all that weight to the car. The 2004 Cobra is the horse to beat. The Camaro is the wildcard if it gets an LS7.
