Post Decided against the Challenger due to.......

Decided against the Challenger due to getting a MSRP deal for a 07 GT500 Shelby.
Ordered 3-24-06
Vin. issued 7-21-06
Build date 8-14-06
The normal wait now is aprox. month in a half to two months.

My choices were:
1st GT500 Shelby
2nd Challenger
3rd Camaro

Shelby was 1st due to it was released first. I like all three and if I had the money all three would be mine. Mostly I am glad to see manufactuers back in the Muscle Car Wars. Hopefully Pontiac will take the Camaro body and make a Trans Am, and Murcury take a Mustang and do a Cougar. I have seen pics of both drawings in July 06 issue of Hot Rod magazine.

To me the Charger isn't retro enough to be considered in the Muscle Car Wars.

Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

Why would you come to a chrysler/ dodge board and tell everyone that you bought a GT500. Great who cares?????

If you look there are tons of Ford boards around so peps can drool over your shelby gt500.

Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

Well congrats on the purchase. Can't say I blame you, that Shelby is one sweet piece of work - personally I could never spend that much money on a Ford and still feel good about myself, but hey - if that's what you want and it makes you happy that's all that really matters.

As far as other manufacturers getting back into the muscle car game - forget about Mercury ever making another Cougar (at least a muscle car Cougar), but at least Pontiac is now TALKING about a possible Firebird comeback - I'll believe it when I see it, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

It baffles me that Pontiac has no problem having a Torrent SUV, a twin of the Equinox, or a G5, which is a new Cobalt-clone next year... but somehow the thought of a Firebird twin to the Camaro (a total no-brainer to most people) keeps eluding the powers-that-be at GM...

Honda2Mopar, everyone on this site isn't in the eigth grade like yourself or anyone who cares to join you.

Besided, everyone on this site don't just drive Mopars. Just look at the profiles and signatures.

I have been a member since 05 and have never encountered anyone that couldn't read until now. I posted nothing negative and this is a off-topic thread were grown people are talking about Mucsle Cars.

You sound like the jealous/hater type. Go sit down somewhere.

Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

Hey Yankee, I see you have a few pontiacs. I have owned a couple that I wish I still had. As for the GT500 Shelby, I can see paying $46K out the door for 500hp. Compared to anything else that make 500hp $46K OTD is cheap. Ford talked of keeping the car under $39,000, but I knew that wasn't going to happen with only aprox. 15,000 Shelby's to be built. I hope the Trans Am due come about. If it does, I will be trying to buy one.

The July 2006 issue of HOT ROD magazine has some nice pictures of the Trans Am and a Cougar.

Do you have that magazine Yankee?

Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

I'm rather partial to this Ford which I looked at yesterday while my wife, my brother, and I went exotic car shopping in Newport Beach, CA. It's amazing how fate sometimes repeats itself, because after reviewing its CarFax report, I discovered that this is the exact same GT that I saw at my local Ford dealer...just last year.

Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

Mr. DJ, if I had the extra cash, I would have me a GT40 as well. The only thing I don't care for is all of these dealers that wants to mark a car up 10,15,20, and $25,000 over sticker

Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

Hey LSR, first of all congrats on the Shelby.

I own a regular S197 '05 Mustang GT and I am very happy with it, I know it's not the Shelby but hey, I love it.

But I have one question, if you don't mind me asking: how on earth did you get to persuade that dealership to sell you a GT500 at MSRP ? It seems that under MRSP+15-20k, there's nothing around...
