Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

LSR, I've seen a few mockups of "new" Trans Ams and Cougars in various mags and such - like I said I think it would be ultra-cool if they got produced but I'm not holding my breath for anything. And hey, I'm not gonna argue that the new Shelby isn't a sweet deal - if I HAD to have a Ford that's the one I'd choose, but it just isn't for me (neither is the new 5th gen Camaro, nice as it is).

Cool Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

Yankee, I hear you. Hopefully a Hemi Cuda developes from the Challenger as well.

Legion681 your Musang GT is a nice car also. I had been on three different dealer list for the car. And all three dealers were going to markup. I am talking $25,000 over sticker. So I pulled my deposit because I will not pay over sticker for any car. My wife had a friend that owned a Ford dealership and I was introduced to the Husband and we became pretty cool. And that is how I got a MSRP deal.

My pal also knew a owner and grabbed a MSRP deal and his Shelby came in last Friday the 18th. I had a chance to drive it. Pictures don't do this car justice. It looks so much better in person. And as for 500 hp. the car is a Beast.

A performance shop already has one and has only added a CAI, Cat-back exhaust, and a tune. the car made 500rwhp & 502rwtq, and ran 11.81@120 in the 1/4 mile spinning in 1st gear.

The car is definitely mod. freindly.

I hope the Trans Am due come about. If it does, I will be trying to buy one.

The July 2006 issue of HOT ROD magazine has some nice pictures of the Trans Am and a Cougar.

Do you have that magazine Yankee?
2006 GTO = $33,000 400 HP
Magnusson Supercharger = $5,000 125+ HP

>500 HP = $38,000

Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

I have owned a 300zx twin turbo, f-body ss camaro, and a corvette zr1.
All you have at the end of the day is a mustang. I am not jealous nor do I care about your mustang. Ford wants to make something faster than the corvette z06 then they need to do it insteed of making a 25 grand car into a 50 grand car.

I meant no disrespect to your decision. Would not have been mine, but I do not have to pay your car note or write your 50 grand check.

If everything you are saying is true, then why attack someone for a car they are driving or buying. I didn't come on here to say anything negative about the Challenger. My choice about what I am buying is only because I am tired of waiting. I had my 03 Mitsubishi Evo. 8 stolen from me and have an opportunity to buy a 07 Shelby at MSRP. It makes no sense to be rude to someone due to race, color, creed, religion, or the car they drive. Nor pass judgement for that matter. For every action there is a reaction and this explains my previous reply to you. You don't even know me nor do I know you, but just let me say I am a car guy and a pretty cool dude. And seeing your cool past cars and your now sensible reply, I am sure we have something in common and can have a sensible conversations on here. I have nothing against you or no one else. I just love cars and motorcycles.

Thumbs up Re: Decided against the Challenger due to.......

Tails,

Magnusson Supercharger = $5,000 125+ HP

>500 HP = $38,000

very interesting.

I think it's cool that you never know what someone has under there hood, but when you hear that rumble your tend to wonder.

Is your GTO modded?

Again congrats on it !

Yep it makes sense what you said.
I have as well a great connection thru my wife's family (my wife's uncle best buddy is the owner of one of the largest Ford dealerships in Mass. Met the guy a few times, really cool guy indeed.), but I didn't have the heart to go ask him for a GT500. Didn't wanna bust his chops...Well, my loss.
You did well and I hope you will enjoy the Shelby. Good luck with it again !
