Describe your thoughts when you first bring your baby home....

I see myself rumbling home in my Hemi Orange Challenger, windows down, Aerosmith's "Back in the Saddle Again" playing loudly in the background.

My 2 year old son is waiting for daddy to come home so he can see the "race car".

My MOPAR neighbors and car freaks come out of their homes to see what the rumble is and behold my "baby." They all come running over asking hundreds of questions, and begging for a ride.

Later in the evening, my son and I go for a father/son ride down to the beach to the classic car show, where we in turn get lots of compliments (and some grumblings from the old school Challenger guys).

A guy can dream right?

Re: Describe your thoughts when you first bring your baby home....

Now you asked for it. I moved back to my hometown about 20 years ago. In high school I had my '73 340 Rallye.

I will drive my new Challenger to show everyone who remembers my '73. That's about 200 people, give or take. Then I will look for people in the central FL area to start a Challenger Rally or club or something. That shouldn't be too hard. Then I will make that decision to leave it stock or put another 100-200 hp on it. Probably not is we get the 6.4L.

Make that about 2000 people who probably remember I had a Challenger. I hope less than 200 remember what I did with it and in it. Hey, it was the '70s.

I'll pass my house several times becasue I can't bear to park it yet, then once it finally starts to get dark, I'll have to try out those headlights....

Once I finally park it, I'll think wow that was a good deal of money, I better get my moneys worth of driving out of it, so I'll pull it out and drive it some more, and promise it a bath in the morning.

I don't know if any of you have experienced this but the gear-heads and wrenchers know what I mean.

After bringing the car home and park it in my garage, I'll go in, grab a beer from the 'fridge, come back out, prop up my directors chair on a flank side of the car and just stare.....you, I think it's a guy thing.

I'll go find my father-in-law and knock the doors off his 04 Mach1. When I'm done Mustang killing I'll go park her next to her older sisters, a 71 Dodge Charger, a 01 Dodge 1500, and the 05 R/T Magnum. Its just One More Mopar to put in the stables.
