Just posted on another thread about a local solid white Mustang GT. It looks fantastic and I really would like to see a Challenger in that color. Just sets it off.

I totally agree, and I for one have been waiting for a very long time, for a real true retro looking muscle car .....and DCX has hit this one out of the park by the looks of the new challenger.....for me,I think its going to be the best looking muscle car out of the whole line-up. Hey ekool, we need some more smilie face guys.

Re: due respect to charger owners

I like the Charger well enough. I think DCX was intentionally trying to move away from the "overly" retro styling. The 300 didn't harken back to any period in that car's history (I'm sure there are some styling cues throughout, but nothing major).

With Ford doing the GT and Mustang - both VERY RETRO - and Chevy with the SSR and HHR (can you say blatant PT Cruiser rip off... but like 10 years too late?) - I think they wanted to go a different direction. Hint at the history but really move forward.

And, if the design and production of the Charger helped lead to the design and production of this car, then I'm all for it. In my mind, the Charger is great because, even if you don't like the styling, at least it's got some balls and it looks different. Geez, for my family do I want an Impala, Accord, Camry, Passat, Fusion or ... Charger. It really stands out and makes a statement.

Which is what the Challenger will do. And it will bring a 2-door into the fold. Ford did it with the Mustang... but then they never really stopped. We'll see if the Challenger (if it gets made) will start making the case for coupes again.

speaking of GM wasn't there an industry rumour of GM thinking of merging with one of the Japan companies, either Honda or Toyota?

Re: due respect to charger owners

As far as styling - the only one that really jumps out to me screaming "Sell your first born for me!" is the SRT-8 version. But... since I have a four door SRT-4 and a 69 Charger/73 Challenger I've managed to keep myself under control and simply play with what I've got... for now.

Now they announced tripling production in India. Massive market, probably no emission requirements, and a Chevy Classic that'l do the 1/4 in 11... .
No quality control issues for sure... . Interesting that announcement is made but nothing about turning it around for the American market. Challenger HEMI the power to beat along with the Charger, 300 and Magnum. Dodge is back in the drivers seat!!!

Re: due respect to charger owners

I like the look of the Charger... the only reason I don't like it is the fact that it's a 4-door. The first time I saw one pull up behind me and fly by my heart skipped a beat! I've test driven both the '06 Mustang GT and the '06 Charger R/T and I must say, out of the two of them I would definately choose the Charger. I really like the way the Mustang looks, but when I drove it, I was sort of disappointed. Maybe it was due to the hairy old salesman beside me though.
