Re: GM revives Camaro muscle car

It is an unofficial GM policy that nothing can be faster than the Corvette. Besides that, anything that was as fast or faster than either a Corvette or Viper would be as expensive as they are. If you want something that fast you will have to buy the real thing, but at least if you buy a Vette you do get a gold chain.

Re: GM revives Camaro muscle car

I'll still buy Challenger, though I like the new Camaro, but I just like the combination of HEMI and Challenger..
Challenger vs. Camaro is gonna be a small version of Viper vs. Corvette (if DCX decided to make a third generation of Challenger, say after 8 years)

Re: GM revives Camaro muscle car (add all Camaro related posts here)

The Camaro being more easily available speaks more for GM's willingness to meet the customer's wants. DCX by limiting the Challenger production if they do that, is telling potential customers to take what we offer or nothing at all. That will turn away a lot of people who maybe don't want that exact car.
I personally like the idea of lots of engines and trim levels because I can get what's right for me. I am not insulted by slower, cheaper versions of the car I drive. If that is what you want and can afford, it's great. I would love to see 150,000 Challengers on the road with everything from a little V6 to a huge Hemi in every trim level. It keeps prices down and aftermarket interest up.

I agree...

...and such will also allow for a larger quantity of replacement interior and exterior body parts somewhere down the line whenever the need arises...for body damage repair and/or restoration.

As a non-HEMI owner of an '05 Chrysler '300 series' (Touring) model myself, I don't care if the 'little old lady' down the street drives a V6 'Challenger' or even small V8...one, which she only drives to church on Sundays. Heck, during my childhood years, an elderly lady/family friend (Dollie 'Grandma' King) was lovingly referred to as 'Hot Rod Granny' by all that knew her. She drove a 'souped-up' V8/manual transmission 1965 Ford 'Mustang' which she meticulously took care of...man, how I wish that that car was sitting in my driveway today.

I disagree, just think of what could have been if GM would have put a LT4 back in the 94-96 Impala SS.....................GM will not make that mistake again. Baldwin Motion already is gearing "Phases" up for the Camaro.

that still doesn't account for the huge weight difference in the cars.............. camaro will still weigh at least 3800+ pounds vs 3112 on the corvette z06 2006 ?? vs 505hp also.

Ok,

1st off, you dont know how much the Camaro is going to weigh, I work for GM and i have first hand knowledge that the target weight is 34-3500 lbs. Nobody knows for sure though.

2nd The Z06 and Viper are not in the same league as the Pony Cars, so why are we comparing them. Even if they put a 500 hp Camaro out, it still would be as fast as a 500 hp Z06, not to mention chevy is planning on making the Stingray which is projected to have 600 hp and 550 lbs tq.

so you work for gm and think they will make something better than the corvette or faster? WoW.

Camaro is supposed to compete with the mustang mustang weighs around 3500 pounds but the concept weighs close to 4000 pounds according to autoblog on one of their first articles, i doubt yall can shave off 400+ pounds.
