Camaro is supposed to compete with the mustang mustang weighs around 3500 pounds but the concept weighs close to 4000 pounds according to autoblog on one of their first articles, i doubt yall can shave off 400+ pounds.
The plan is down the pipe for a 600 hp corvette.

Its going to be a 6.0 liter Supercharged LS series engine (probably called the LS9), It is basically the same motor that is in the Z06 now, but they de-honed the cylinders from 7.0 to 6.0 liters because the thin cylinder walls of the LS7 cant handle the added pressure from the Blower. Not to mention, the weight of the car as it stands right now is around 2900-2950 lbs. CAN YOU SAY CRUISE MISSLE.

I dont think this is going to happen, I KNOW, mark my words. DCX has something up thier sleeve with the Viper, but dont think Chevy is far behind.

As far as the Camaro weighing 4000 lbs, dont believe everything you read, the concept does not weigh an ounce over 3700(and that is because of all the concept thick metal and over the top ammenities, like 22's and those 85 lb seats), and yes they have already found a way to get it on a diet. Its going to be targeted for around 3400, but i would be willing to say it will end up at around 3450-3500

Re: GM revives Camaro muscle car (add all Camaro related posts here)

Hope that you are right about the new Camaro, anything that will help DCX put the Challenger on a diet is fine by me, besides even though I hate to admit it, the Camaro is growing on me. That's scary too, it has such a bad rep as a trailer park car and mullet car and all that. I am almost ashamed to admit it could be an alternative. But the 1st gen Camaros were pretty nice cars. If the new ones turn out good, who knows?

As far as I know the first gen camaros never had that rep, it was the cheesy versions they put out in the 1970s and 1980s. The original camaros were awesome. I watched the video and the exhaust note from that car is 100% pure muscle car - old school style. The body style still makes me cringe though - with the wedge nose and the body lines that look really forced. It doesn't flow nicely like a 1969. I'm really disappointed that they're claiming the production version will be almost identical to the concept, they need to take that car back to the design studio and give it a major overhaul to bring it in line with a '69. Hopefully someone does this before it hits the street in numbers.

Re: GM revives Camaro muscle car (add all Camaro related posts here)

I have a 1967 427 Camaro RS and a 1971 Challenger 440 and am watching these new versions. I also have a 2003 Mustang Cobra I bought new and it is an awesome car for more modern muscle. I personally love the new Challenger and think it is the best looking of the new musclecars. I also like the new Camaro and am happy to see Chevy bring it back. Facts are we are truly lucky to be able to have a choice. It is also great to be able to even HAVE a rivalry. That is what keeps the excitement alive. If you are a Challenger fan keep your eyes on the SEMA show in November. Let's just say there will be an interesting Challenger display.

That is just ignorant, if you going to post crap like this, at least have something to back it up with.

The 70 and 80's werent the best years for the Camaro, but lets not talk about Dodge and thier transmissions, like the 6 trannies i went through in my truck(2003 Ram), or how about the 4 rear ends in my jeep...etc. etc.

I am involved with a project for Sema but can't elaborate at this point. Right now we are working against that deadline and I am hoping it will come together. If what I have been hearing is true this will appeal to the musclecar guys. Think "HP"(remember this is SEMA). Keep your fingers crossed.
