Got to try out a Charger rental car last week

I spent last week at Disney world last week with the wife and my brother's family - got a black 06 Charger for my rental car (had a choice between that, a Taurus or a Maxima - talk about a no-brainer lol). It was the first time I've gotten to drive or spend any time with one of those, and I really liked it. The styling really grew on me and it looked really good in black. I SO wish it could have been a Hemi model, but the V6 really wasn't too bad. Last year I had a Ford 500 rental car for about a week - this Charger would have left that damn thing in the dust in a race without even breathing hard.

The most interesting thing was how this car drove - it really was Mercedes-like - the heritage really showed thru. My parents have a 2000 Intrepid and after driving that car quite a bit and now this Charger, the difference is like night and day. The only thing I didn't really care for was that this car barely had a steering column at all - it seemed like the steering wheel was attached straight to the dashboard, that's how close it was.

I still think Dodge shouldn't have named this car a Charger... but overall, the car itself was very nice, and the more I drove it the more I liked it.

Now if I can just get my hands on an SRT-8...
