Too bad that article isn't a doom and gloom, glass is half full, the sky is falling editorial. It's a well written narrative of the American love affair with cars and how it's been affected today.
Maybe it's over for PJ O'Rourke but I just looked in my garage at my hemi orange SRT8 Challenger.
I tell ya what- MY love affair with the American automobile sure as heck ain't over. Can't wait to wheel it out of the garage tomorrow just to go for a lunch or quart of milk.
Real wealth is to want what you have. And I do. It's in my garage.

Yea yea yea and the sky is falling ..... Yatta yatta yatta. The Glass is half full !!!!
Yea your right we need to stop all of this negative stuff even though thats not what the article is about. We all need to just go along and let them take care of us and make our cars for us. Then some day in the future we will all wake up and say WTF!!! What do you mean we have to pay a yearly tax to drive our Challengers, or they will give us the option to sell them and buy a eco car. Most likely none of this will happen, but remember they are like bad relatives once they get a foot in the door it's really hard to keep them out of your house.
