How desperate is Chrysler...?

Here's how desparate. My buddy just bought a new '08 Grand Cherokee Limited with every option under the sun (45k sitcker) for 31,000 and they gave him zero percent financing for 6 years. That's desparate...

Re: How desperate is Chrysler...?

Maybe their plan is to make room for the Challenger to make up the difference.

Re: How desperate is Chrysler...?

The market for SUVs has tanked.

Coupled with the bad economy and uncertainty of job stability and vehicle leases going away, the time has passed for that type of vehicle.

With gas being $3.50+ a gallon in many places, people are thinking about choices of vehicles when fill ups cost over $80 and if they drive a lot, they may do this 2 or more times a week.

Dealers in my area won't take large pickups or SUVs as trade ins - no buyers looking for these now.

Re: How desperate is Chrysler...?

I agree with you on SUV market--a freind of mine got the same type of deal on a new Yukon. Big mark down and 0% interest. A buddy of mine works at a Dodge--Toyota dealer and said people are trading in full size trucks and suvs that are paid off and paying premium prices for Toyota Prius cars. I guess a lot of people never figure out how much fuel they could have bought for all the money they lost in the deal.

Re: How desperate is Chrysler...?

Some of the big pick up trucks are marked down nearly $20,000. I feel sorry for somebody who financed one last year since a brand new one costs less than what they probably owe on it.

Re: How desperate is Chrysler...?

They're desperate enough to consider selling off Viper! Sad . . . very sad. This would be a huge loss for Dodge!

I still like the idea of a Viper motor in a Challenger.

Ooooo. That wouldn't be bad. Maybe they will offer low financing and dealer mark downs on the impractical fuel in-efficient Challenger...HA

Re: How desperate is Chrysler...?

A Chrysler dealer near me has one of those big Jeeps hanging from a crane about 20 feet in the air. There is a big banner underneath it that says $10,000 OFF.
