KOOKS Headers

I am a member of a few forums(Charger forum, Dodge truck world and 300c) and some of you guys really know some tricks about these vehicles.I bought KOOKS headers for my 2007 5.7 1500 Dodge Ram.Dodge changed the frame between 2006 & 2007 so Mopar did not have the headers for that year I try to use all Mopar aftermarket. Had the dealer install these and now the check engine light stays on. E-mailed Mopar Supercenter where I purchased them to see if they knew how to correct this and suggested a oil fouler tip used on spark plugs to get O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream. I did this and last service visit I had the check engine light reset. Lasted a couple of days and light came on again. Dealer says I will have to live with light being on that exhaust is not factory tuned anymore and no way to correct this other than return the exhaust to stock. If anyone knows any way to correct this. If there is a legit error code the light will function the way it should. Is this going to be a problem for the Challenger as well?

Re: KOOKS Headers

Exactly what code are you getting. Eng. light is very general. If you can supply the code it might be easier to diagnose.

Should be for ex. P2046

Re: KOOKS Headers

Cant remember the number. The cause: catalytic converter efficency code. I was told it triggers it because of the hi flow cats. I failed to mention I also install a Borla dual cat back. She sounds mean. The MDS will not kick in when the check engine on which doesn't matter on the truck there seems to be no decrease in mileage running the same as before which is not good 13 city and no more than 16.7 hiway. Although it is not in limp mode she seems more energetic when the check engine is out. I have had it reset 2x and it takes a couple of days to trigger again.
