Angry Message to Dodge from a VW driver

Yes, I said VW. I've owned two of them. My current one is a TDI (that'd be a diesel). I drive with a lead foot and still get 43mpg. I've always loved having a sedan that I can treat like a sports car, and for a long time swore that if I could ever afford one, I'd get a 4-door M3 so I could blow the doors off the coupes when the light goes green.

Not any more. Build the Challenger, and I'll buy one. BUT, it'd better be a stick shift, it'd better have a V-8 the size of my VW, it'd better have two doors, and it'd better look damn close to the concept. Those are all deal-breakers. Without 'em, and you'll see me running back to the VW dealership for the next generation Jetta so I can have my 40+ mpg another 10 years. If I can't have a real muscle car, I'm not gonna have a half-assed one.

By the way, the Charger's a really neat car. Too bad it's called a Charger. That was dumb.

I've heard 2008. Great. Perfect timing. My '98 TDI should last about that long (even under my abuse). Now build the damn thing!

Wait, let's beat the dead horse some more - you're about to convert a German car driver to Mopar. I'VE NEVER EVEN OWNED AN AMERICAN CAR BEFORE! I WASN'T EVEN ALIVE IN 1970! AND I WANT A CHALLENGER NOW! WITH A V-8, A PISTOL GRIP 6-SPEED, AND TWO DOORS!

There, that horse is definitely dead now.

Re: Message to Dodge from a VW driver

It's not dead, till the MOPAR in all of us officially kill it, and run it into the ground.

The mood of the board seems to be less estatic about the car being built and getting angry about the not knowing.

I fully expect DXC to come out saying "it's not you....it's us."

I vote to go for the 4 DR M3. For some insane reason they killed the M3 sedan when the E46 came out even though in the E36 series it made up 54 % of the sales. They have resurrected it in the E90 series so we will have the coupe, saloon, and estate aka Avant. If anything the S4 avant sales bitch slaped BMW into action.

Killed in the E46 series? the E46 M3 is more badass than the E36 could ever dream of being... I don't get what you're trying to say

Exactly. I'm only 23, and I've never been more interested in a vehicle that I could afford! I'd take this over a corvette, or a ferrari 308, It's just my style.. it's exactly what I've been looking for!
