MOPAR Surprise !

Well, DCX has popped a surprise at this years 2007 Chicago Autoshow with the unveiling of a tricked out 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 ; the 2007 Dodge Viper SRT10 MOPAR CONCEPT .. which has a 'custom-engineered version of its new 8.4L V-10' which purportedly cranks 675 gallops and to me looks real,real BADas !!! Here's a shot :

Also at the Chicago Auto Show this year is the Challenger SS Concept 392... It's placement in the show is a bit strange as it is technically part of the Shell Gasoline exhibit, but is placed just across the isle from the Dodge floor. Also, there is no fanfare or special treatment surrounding it, just a rope to keep people at a distance. Although it was SO GREAT to see that beast in person, I was very dissappointed by the lack of respect it was given, by both the Dodge camp (it wasn't even on their floor!) and the fellow spectators. Right next to it was a tricked out H2 with about a dozen TVs and such custom built into it, so most people had their BACKS to the Challenger!! Why wouldn't this thing be the sparkling centerpiece (or at least one of them) on the Dodge floor? Especially since the first Challenger concept isn't there, and over at Chevy the convertable concept is given more attention than the Z06.

Ok, that's enough from me. It was really cool to see it though!

In terms of the Camaro concept... they announced a few things:

1) that the production version will be almost identical to the concept. They campared it to how close the HHR production was to the concept; if I remember correctly, there was only a change in the mirrors.
2) they said that the coupe version will be on lots in early 2009, with the convertable coming later that year
3) both a V6 and V8 will be offered, but displacements aren't known yet
4) both a manual and auto will be offered, but # of gears isn't known yet

Ah well shoot, I'm leaving town tomorrow [ for at least a week],won't have time to go down there today; so I will miss going to see this All American SuperStar . Well, it just goes to show that half the people have not a clue [ no disrespect though ] and just 'leaves more Challengers for us' ! WHEEE
