As previously stated the actual problem with most political discussions today is that most people can't have a respectful, substantive debate about issues without resorting to vitriol when they can't substantiate their argument with facts. Personally, I LOVE the debate......when I can do it with someone who doesn't take it personally. Sometimes you simply have to agree to disagree.....it's the special person who can do so without thinking their "opponent" isn't an a$$hole just because they have a different opinion. I believe we mostly all agree on the ultimate goals....the difference primarily lies in how we get there.

I'll humbly admit that I've been slowly turning into the typical Angry White Male and I can't have a political discussion without at the very least a spike in blood pressure anymore, regardless of the other person's side by the way. I can talk religion and respect everyone's beliefs, but politics... there's way too much 'history' there. I see opposing views as threats to my way of life, not simple disagreements.

So I just don't watch the news and, frankly, have seen almost no TV for the past few years. I also steer face-to-face discussions to innocent topics, which is a hell of a challenge during election times. Online posting is another story because I can walk away from the keyboard and put someone in my ignore list, or even leave a forum. But what I hate the most is when people naturally assume, if you make any sense, that you espouse their views and vote for the same people, a clear signal that they consider the other side nothing else than a bunch of idiots.

I haven't seen those ads here and that's a relief...

With any ad network, Google included, the website owner can accept or reject ads based not only on the content of the ads such as gambling, alcohol, politics, religion, etc., but also from a specific advertiser.
