SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame (9-0) remains perfect after a 29-26 triple-overtime win over Pitt. Here's how it happened:
It was over when: Kevin Harper missed a 33-yarder in the second overtime that would have won it for Pitt. He hit one in the next OT, but the Irish left no doubt by scoring a touchdown on an Everett Golson rush from 1-yard out to clinch it.
Gameball goes to: Golson came up big for Notre Dame when it mattered most, leading the Irish out of a 20-6 fourth-quarter deficit and diving in for the game-winning touchdown run from a yard out. Golson finished the day 23 of 42 for 227 yards with a touchdown pass and a pick. He had 15 carries for 74 yards.
Stat of the game: Notre Dame somehow survived despite losing the turnover margin 3-0. Pitt had questionable play-calling late with the lead and was unable to put away the Irish. Tough loss to swallow for the Panthers.
You seem to have left out the atrociously bad call for pass interference on Pittsburgh on 4th down that allowed Notre Dame to get a first down inside the 10 yard line that set up Notre Dame's second touchdown with around 10 minutes to go in the game. Take away that play and Notre Dame loses. Also the missed field goal by Pittsburgh in the second overtime that would have won the game.
Notre Dame is the luckiest team in College football. And Pittsburgh is a terrible team to boot. They suck! Youngstown State beat them the first game of the year and they are not even a major college team.

Everyone can find excuses, ifs & buts for any team & in any game. At the end of the day, it's the column with the check mark that matters.
that's exactly right...whether it was ND's missed PAT, Woods' fumble in the end zone, Pitt's missed FG in OT, etc, etc....it was a sloppy, but exciting game that Pitt should've won - but they didn't....in the end, the Irish prevailed, and that's what counts....we're 9-0!!!! .....GO IRISH!!!!!!

You say "we are 9 and 0"... What position do you play??? That is what I thought. You don't play. You are a "fan." Your sorry team needed overtime to beat a really crappy team and you are ecstatic??? Your sorry team will never beat a good team so revel in your pathetic win over a horrible team that has a terrible quarterback. I can't wait till your sorry team plays a good team so they can take their beat down. It will be funny. USC that just lost to Oregon will give Notre Dame a beat down. That way they won't be humiliated by Oregon or Alabama or Kansas State in a BCS bowl game. Ha ha ha ha ha

Wow, you're certainly butt hurt over OUR team's success. Let me guess, you're a FAN of Navy, Purdue, Michigan State, Michigan, Miami, Stanford, Brigham Young, Oklahoma or Pittsburgh. Don't get your panties in a bunch, it's only a football GAME. I'll allow you the last word, since I'm sure you won't stop otherwise.

Listen, if you know anything at all about NCAA football, you would know that a team ranked #4 in the BCS standings, a team ranked #4 in all the major polls, is statistically better than all but 3 teams at the I-A level. That is a lot of schools. It also means that, with three games remaining in the schedule, it is in serious contention for the national championship. It is, at least, guaranteed a major bowl game. These are undisputable FACTS, whether you like Notre Dame or not. Notre Dame football has the biggest following of any college football program in the country, but you either like them or you don't - it's a free country. They do not have an "easy" schedule this year, i.e. I don't consider Michigan, Michigan State, Miami (FL), Oklahoma, Stanford, USC, etc. easy games. Boo-hoo if your team is performing poorly.

Let's not forget that it has the highest academic standards in the NCAA. It's a university with a football program, not a football program with a university.
