Used to do the real thing up until 4 yrs ago when the wife went out and got a $300 fake one. She spends 3 days putting it up.
She says it makes her happy.
This yr she said she wanted a bigger one w more lights.
I told her to divide $300 by 30 (cost of a fresh tree each yr) and that will be the number of yrs she has to keep to get my $ worth.
Guess we will buying a fresh tree in 2018.

A question with classical roots. Always the real Christmas tree growing up. Only the weirdos had those stupid, metal ones. But now with fake breasts everywhere you look, it's the a-r-t-i-f-i-c-i-a-l tree that has claimed dominance. Look at us, children of the 50's and 60's... friggin old people, Republicans nevertheless... two fakers inside and one genuinely real Christmas tree relegated to the front porch. "Oh, the humanity!"

Haha . I just squeezed into the 70s being born jan 79 but I grew up going to a maasive tree farm (usually in snow), selecting the perfect tree, and cutting it down. I would prefer to keep that experience going. I have yet to find a place like that in southern CA though. And although I do have a real tree, I wouldn't be upset to use a fake one as I had all carpeting I'm the house and its a real bitch with the pine needles falling off and getting embedded into the carpet.

Anyway, at the end of the day the tree doesn't really matter, it's all about who is around it and the dimmer table with you.
