So at the Dodge Dealership today...late 07??!!

So I walk into the dealership here in the St Petersburg area and what do my eyes behold? Well and SRT8 black Charger sitting next to the Top Banana in the showroom....have I died and gone to heaven? Of course not! If that happened 100 nekkid MAXIM girls would have been in the showroom showing off these wonderous cars...but I digress.

The astute salesman observes the distinct line of drool coming out of my mouth while sitting in the SRT8 and asks if I like it.

Me: why yes I do sir
Salemans: then buy one, you only live once! (that's true, you do only live once, however if I brought home a $51k car then I'd be killed as I got out of the car by my misses.
Me: "Love the Top Banana, but I'm waiting for the Challenger. Sooooo...what's the inside word on the challenger?"
Salesman: Late 07 maybe Dec or Nov should be out.
Me: -perk- limited edition or available to the general public ala me!
Salesman: No I expect them to be around the SRT8 price range.
Me: Goodday sir.

I hope he's wrong!!!

I know I don't hold much value in what a salesman would say. Hell, if he's in the know, then the Challenger news would be all over the net by now. I'm calling B.S.

That SRT8 was $51k damn that's a lot of money for a car like that. No disrespect intended for the Charger cuz I love those too, but $51k? I'd buy a porche or something like that.

actually my GF who works as a salesperson said the same thing. She was told at the Caliber ride and drive, by some chrylser execs, that 7 new products where due to arrive this year and next. One of them being the Challenger.

I pretty much got the same response from a salesperson also.

Thinking about the price. If the Challenger has the same options as the Charger SRT8 you were sitting in, it wouldn't be a surprise.

Realistically speaking, why would DC charge less for 2 doors for the same options?

RRHemi has an awesome link showing the Charger is pretty much head to head with the Mustang. Considering the LX platform altogether sold 30,241. That's over twice as many as the mustang...

Like it's been discussed on the boards, I hope the Challenger comes out with multiple engine types etc. I won't go with the base model, but I can't afford a top shelf Challenger.
