SRT "Dealer".... Such a thing?

I have seen / heard a few times where dealers advertise they are "SRT" Dealers.

Is there really such a thing?

Can any dealer sell / service a SRT Vehicle?

Is it just an advertising ploy to bring that business in? If so why don't more advertise this?

I guess the next question would be.....

Who is the Biggest, Baddest, Mack Daddy of all SRT Dealers? I've searched a bit and really could not find any kind of official list from Dodge or anyone else with this info.

This is sort of related to my Dodge Dealers: The List topic.

Re: SRT "Dealer".... Such a thing?

Those that say they are, probably have 'allocations'. Even though any Dodge dealer can order you an SRT.

Re: SRT "Dealer".... Such a thing?

I am not sure but I think only certian dealers may order the cars in just for their lot. I know of a couple of small dealers around here that are five star but can not get srt vehicles for their lots, one told me they could order one if I had it paid for before hand.

Re: SRT "Dealer".... Such a thing?

Yes, there are "SRT Dealers". The dealer in my hometown is one, mostly because of the citys population and how much business they do. If your an SRT dealer then you get them from the factor and stock them on your lot. They also have qualified technicians to work on them. Another dealer in a city near by is too small to be an SRT dealer, they can get them but dont stock them.

I used to work at our local Dodge dealer.

Re: SRT "Dealer".... Such a thing?

I was told by my local dealership ..Most small dealerships don't have the SRTs becuase they have to buy the srt "tool package" specific to each model. Its expensive for them considering most small dearler ships wouldn't sell that many SRTs.

Re: SRT "Dealer".... Such a thing?

Sounds familiar... I used to work for GM.... Their dealerships are all trained to work on all the line's vehicles, but because so many vehicles share platforms they can cross-brand repairs as well.. (They don't like to do it under warranty, however)... The only real exception is the diesel trucks.. Some of the smaller dealers dont have diesel technicians on staff, so they'll refer you somewhere else... This is probably a similar thing, with the tool package Dakrt59 mentioned...

Re: SRT "Dealer".... Such a thing?

I believe that they(dealerships) have to be SRT certified to be trained and equipt to be able to work on them,as they are special vehicles.....But allocation is based I believe on how many certain regular new vehicles that are sold,as to how much allocation. Larger and higher turn-over dealerships, that have SRT certification...would obviously have more allocations of SRT vehicles.

Re: SRT "Dealer".... Such a thing?

Ok then....

I guess the next question would be"

Who is the Biggest, Baddest, Mack Daddy of all SRT Dealers?

I'm sure there must be at least what is considered the Top 3.

I've searched a bit and really could not find any kind of official list from Dodge or anyone else with this info.
