What is an AMERICAN car ?

In Consumer Reports 2007 annual auto issue there's an interesting sidestory entitled : GLOBAL GAME / What is an American car ? It shows the world map with adjoining story of where a lot of cars are being made ! At least 18 U.S. models are made in Canada [ with 7 Asian models as well] . 46 imports now made in the U.S. !!!!! 13 U.S. models made in Mexico and as most know at least one Hemi engine being made there too ! The Chevy Aveo is made in South Korea, with a mere 4% parts from here / America ! As we all know DCX is headquarter'd in Germany ! Also, of late, I'm trying to figure out why most Mercedes are receiving poor marks for reliability ; vehicles which cost $45,000 - upwards of $90,000[ or more] ? Would any of us hesitate to buy ,if say for i.e. , a 2010 ' CUDA 7.2 L w/ Twin Turbos was built in Germany [ at reasonable cost] i.e.

I'd buy a 2010 'Cuda wherever it was built!
