Re: What's Your Story??

Well, a long story made short-er. As I'm older than most here on the forum, my story goes back to the '70's. Used to be heavily involved in the first van craze. The motto for our club, "UNDERGROUND TRUCKIN' AUTHORITY", was "BOOGIE TILL YOU PUKE". Cute, huh? I lived up to that motto every chance I got. First to party, last to finish. I was "Da' BOOGIEMAN" personified.

Then there's the "LET'S BOOGIE" poster from that era.
I used that as characters on my ISCA radical show van named "STREET BOOGIE". (Chopped, channeled, molded, CAN-AM styling, won the regional championship in '77).

Was my "CB" handle when that was cool, too.

Used the "STREET BOOGIE" name on many of my "toy" cars since.

Also using the name for my current custom TRIUMPH motorcyle parts business, "STREET BOOGIE CUSTOMS AND COMPONENTS".
"Da' BOOGIEMAN" stuck. I've altered my lifestyle downward greatly since then, but still fondly remember those wilder times.

Re: What's Your Story??

My forum name is simply the model of my Facel Vega. When I was quite young I read the July 1960 issue of Road and Track. It had a road test of the 1960 Facel Vega. Here was superb Italian/French styling, handmade coachwork of the highest quality, and the best powertrain then extant: Big Block Chrysler and Torqueflite. Really doesn't get any better than that. I finally bought the car in the 1990's and it is everything I could want in an automobile.

hk500usa,

Nice-looking car...it somewhat reminds me of the Avanti.

Funny! But just what makes you think you're older than most??

Re: What's Your Story??

My normal forum handle "xs29j8" is derived from the first six characters of the VIN number of my favorite Mopar, my Triple Black 1968 Hemi Charger R/T. I generally use lower case characters for the handle, understated like the "hemicuda" emblems on a Hemi Cuda Shaker hood scoop. I use caps on my "XS" sig on each post, a play on the word "excess", having been told I have taken the hobby to excess for many years...

XS

Re: What's Your Story??

i find myself to be the only person i know obsessed with dodge. i have guarunteed myself to buy dodge vehicles, the rest of my life. all the people i know are obsessed with their riced-out civics, or their 6 cylinder camaros. and plus im younger than most(if not all) of the people on these boards

Re: What's Your Story??

I bought a 2000 Camaro Z28 new while I was still living in Pittsburgh, PA. 2 years later I moved down to New Orleans and became a member of the Gulf South Firebird Camaro Club (which I'm still a member of, until they find out that I'm going for the Challenger in 09 instead of the new 5th gen Camaro lol). Anyway, my name on that board became YankeeZ named for the car (like Yankee Z28). In 2003 that car was stolen and stripped, and even though I replaced it with a 2001 SS (since replaced by an 04 GTO), I let the name live on as a tribute to that car. Now, most people around here now know me as "Yankee", that's my name on most other boards so I figured I'd just keep it since that's the name most people know me as.

Custom Triumph motorcycle parts, huh? I'm currently riding an '05 Thruxton. Do you have any additional information on Street Boogie Customs and Components (website, products, etc?).

P.S. My current car is a VW R-32 and my forum name here is nothing more than part of my last name with an 's' added. Not too exciting, I know, but that's what most people call me.
