The Johhny Walker Red? I thought it was kinda funny advert for a piece by the Huckster. But I turn annotations off so it was just a quick chuckle then onto more serious matter at hand like the content of the piece.

While somewhat overly simplified, I agree with his commentary. We should be including faith in our lives, instead of searching for ways to exclude it. Maybe people with emotional issues would find solace there, instead of in violence towards others. Something to think about...

As our once proud nation continues its steady decline on the world stage, Americans, in large measure, also continue to abandon traditional American values. Values that built this country. Values that preserved this country through terrible, bloody wars. Values that set us apart from other nations. Values that brought immigrants to our shores. Not for the purpose of taking FROM our country but rather for the opportunity to contribute TO our country. And for one day to be able to describe themselves as AN AMERICAN! Sadly these binding values are steadily going by the wayside at an alarming rate. In our everyday life, God has been on the decline for decades. The solemn words "May God Bless America" have become uncomfortable to me. Why? Because our nation no longer deserves His mighty blessings. "Harsh" you say? Take a look around at our decadent society. Why should God intercede when so many of our brethren, with boundless enthusiasm, seek to remove God from every corner of our life. These efforts become most evident at this time of year. At no other time is God under such viscious attack than at Christmas. Christmas!!!

I firmly believe that all of our national woes are a result of a quietly collective decision to remove God's place in our culture. As a tiny glimpse into what I'm speaking of, there are two stores that I used to frequent regularly in the small, dysfunctional (loving reference) San Diego suburb of Pacific Beach where I happily reside. Christmas decorations of all sorts used to be what I would enthusiastically look forward to each year. These days, "yeah, right!" Maybe a half-hearted smattering at best. However, come Halloween, it's like friggin Satan has taken up residence. Everything for the true Halloween enthusiast beginning mid-September and continuing through what used to be just a fun time for kids. Some items are truly dark and perverse.

I am getting rather long-winded here so I'll try to wrap it up. The family unit is where it all starts. Mom and Dad instilling values in the hearts and minds of children. Schools, where personal responsibility and a principled code of conduct is embedded into the fresh cement of our children's consciousness. And love of country. Not what is wrong with our nation but rather what is great and good about "one nation, under God." How people from all over the world used to dream about once coming to America, and then, one day, with tears in their eyes, and a hand over their heart, PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA...

Very well said. Based on the outcome of our most recent presidential election many if not most Americans today have a completely different concept of what this country is about. Those of us that still care for the Amerca of our youth and the principles that made her great need to do whatever we can to help bring it back for the future generations, before it is completely lost.

No religious discussion here. Too volatile, especially when politics are included.
