Photos of the 2011 Challenger have already appeared online ahead of the car's official unveiling, but now we have a first look at Dodge's 2011 Challenger SRT8.
Outside, the biggest changes are to the lower rear fascia, the door handles and the lip spoiler. An upgraded interior will also be a part of the package.
More importantly, however, is a new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with 480-hp and 460 ft-lbs of torque. Pricing is expected to be set at $45,601 with the new engine also making for improvements in the fuel economy department.
In the future, both acceleration and fuel economy will improve further with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
For those interested in the SE model, it gets a new Pentastar V6 displacing 3.6-liters and making 290-hp and 270 ft-lbs of torque – an increase of 40-hp and 20 ft-lbs. It's also expected to deliver fuel economy of 20/26-mpg (city/highway) up from 18/25-mpg.
Dodge has revealed pics of its all new Mopar '10 Challenger special edition. For those with short memories for special edition muscle cars, the Mopar '10 Challenger is pretty identical to a standard Challenger R/T, but gets a cold-air intake, front and rear strut tower braces, 20" forged wheels, hood pins, unique badging. The car will only be painted in Brilliant Black with Red, Blue or Silver striping. Mopar '10 is $38,000 for an automatic transmission and $39,000 for a manual transmission. Both prices include $750 for destination.
Is this the 2012 Dodge Magnum aka Dodge's replacement for the Dodge Durango? Spy photos obtained by blogger Asian Martin show the vehicle's design, and a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee next to it, and we're inclined to think so.
The Magnum is expected to get Chrysler's Pentastar 3.6L V6, and the photos clearly show design cues taken from the Ram pickup. The 5.7L Hemi V8 is a logical addition as well. Based on spy photos and some leaked patent drawings, this is likely your first look at the new truck.

The differences to the car aren't major with updates limited to a revised lower front fascia, new wheels and new door handles that are tipped to be part of an easy-access system that will allow owners to enter the car by just having the key job in their pocket. The interior is also slated for updates, but no photos of that are yet available.

On a side note, this story may also serve as a warning to automaker employees who want to become internet famous for snapping a few spy photos of vehicles inside the company's compound. MoParts forum member coronet1966d has now taken down the pics and could even face charges for his actions.

We've heard several reports about what's coming for the updated 2011 Dodge Challenger, but now it appears as though the updates will come at a cost. While Chrysler hasn't released any official info, car buying site NADA Guides has a listing for the 2011 Challenger with what appears to be the new 2011 info and pricing – including the new engine options and increased sticker prices
While the photo provided shows the 2010 model, the list of engines includes the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 6.4-liter Hemi V8. According to the numbers shown on the site, a base Challenger with the new V6 will cost $2,310 more in 2011, rising from $23,695 to $26,055. The R/T climbs $1,910 from $31,610 to $33,520. As for the big-dog SRT8, it's priced at $1,921 more than the 2010 model for a rather significant $45,601.
As much as we hate to see prices go up, there's arguably good reason. Not only are we likely to see some interior trim upgrades in the new Challenger, but the new engines are poised to make big improvements in power and fuel economy. With Ford recently drawing back the curtain on its NASCAR Mustang for this weekend's Nationwide Series race, Dodge has followed suit with one seriously retro-looking racer. In addition to the Penske Racing car, Dodge will host over 100 Challenger owners, put on a rock concert and provide plenty of other activities at its display area outside Turn 4 at Daytona International Speedway.
