2019 392 track thread

So lets hear mods and track times 2019!

So I don't have a Challenger 392 (I do have an '18 5.7) but a Daytona 392. I still think this will be a good place to discuss what makes a 392 go fast.

Last week the air wasn't there (500-1100 DA) and I went a best [email protected] What a difference a week makes! DA today started out at -375 and was still -132 at 4:00pm

I started out with a 28" tall tire

I was able to get 7 run in between 12:09-1:19 even changing tires!

1st pass was [email protected] 60 ft was spinning to a 1.73. Next pass hooked to a [email protected] 60 ft with a 1.71 which would be the best time of the day

I changed to a 27" tall M/T but could not get it to hook. After killing the tires on the next 2 passes I went back and ran an [email protected] with a 1.76 60 ft. I had another spinning 1.85 60 ft so I called it quits for awhile

I put the 28's back on and had the best 60 ft of the day, 1.69 but the car only ran [email protected] 114.77. DA at this time was -132

So the air was way better this week along with the install of the cat deletes. If I could of had the best 60 ft with best MPH it would have went 11.7's, but I can only say 11.83. The scale was not working today but comparing to last week my race weight was about 4500#

I don't know why the picture isn't straight but that is the way it is down loading it. On the left or bottom is the 28" and the top is the 27".

2016 Challenger Scat Pack A8, Best 1/4 mile ET to date 11.43 @ 121 mph @ +500 DA, Best 1/8 mile time at "Sea Level" was 7.27 @ 96mph. Best 60 foot times have been several 1.57.
My Mods are 17X10.5 Weld S71 rear wheels with 305 45r17 M/T ET Street Rs, 18 X 4.5 weld S71 front runners with M&H 28" tall Bias Ply front runners, Kooks 1 7/8 long tube headers, Catless Kooks midpipes, Borla ATAK Exhaust with the variable exhaust valves intact, 95+ octane tune, I use 1 can of Torco Accelerator mixed with 10 gallons of pump 91 octane gas, Ported OEM 6.4 MMX intake manifold, Ported stock throttle body by MMX, Rear seat delete, removed passenger front seat, removed front sway bar.
If I had to do just a few things, Id say the 95+ octane tune and lightwheels and the M/T ET Street R tires is where its at. The rest of the mods ive done resulted in very very minor improvements. The weight reduction I did was all very easy to do and worth it as well. Very reversible with minimal effort.

Ridgeback, what is your race weight? Is your car tuned and by whom?

121mph is pretty awesome! Makes me wonder how it would run in -500 DA

Ive never weighed my car as it sits at the track, but the passenger front seat is worth 55 pounds, the rear subwoofer/compressor and trunk floor panel is another 20 pounds, the factory rear seat delete that I installed, lost approx. 35 pounds, the front sway bar removed approx. 15 pounds but also freed up the front ends ability to lift and transfer weight better. The front wheel assemblies helped removed approx. 30 pounds of rotating weight combined. Rear wheels and tires are maybe 2 pounds lighter than stock. My weight reduction is all very easy to perform as it does not take long to removed it and reinstall it....except the rear seat delete kit by Mopar. Its a little labor intensive but worth it. Nobody sits in the back of my car anyways.
Yes, my car has HPtuners and an unlocked mopar PCM. It was tuned by Accelerated Racing Solutions in Rancho Cucamonga California. I had installed 1 full can of Torco Accelerator in 10 gallons of fuel, so they continued adding timing until they found the limits of that mixture and that's where it got locked in at. Yes it runs very good. The tune is key, If you can handle driving around with legit octane booster in your car, then advance the timing...your car will be even faster!

I will be talking to Jay Greene some more on tuning and will ask about running e85. It will be like running race gas and even though you loose gas mileage I think it will be about a break even with how much less it costs over premium. There are a lot of e85 stations here with the closest 2 miles away.

You are getting lots of front end lift. Thinking if I would have just unhooked the front sway bar I may have been able to hook the 27"

There was an idenically modified 6.4 Scat Pack at the same dyno shop that simply had E85 installed. It made a legit 15 rwhp more than my car across the board. My car on a Mustang Chassis dyno made 440rwhp and he made like 454rwhp. THe Dynojet numbers looked way more impressive.

Congrats on the 11 second passes! (post those slips) That is KILLER weather which we hardly EVER seen in Fla. My next run will be in the 80's and DA probably around 2000+. I think Rob is correct......come on October/November!

My car is adapting beautifully to the cat delete. Every time I drive it it runs better. I run the 26th weather permitting. Will post slips of the crappy weather runs. I'm not looking for any record breaking times.....but I AM looking to lower my 60ft times considerably. Hopefully will run decent times anyway.

Thanks everyone!

Feel like I got a monkey off my back trying to get into the 11's. Ran 12.04 at 2 different tracks last year so to run many 11.8's in the same weather is great
